So I put a bipod on the 305 and it shoots good ok with the ARMS 18 and 90 dollar scope made in a factory (likely) next to the norc factory. Weakest part of the system is the driver.

Definitely going to get a new op rod and then shim the gas cylinder. Anything else that's a cheap mod? When the scope craps out (and it will) I'll get better glass likely the 10x 3200 elite tact like everyone else gets :) maybe a 2-7.

I'll take it out to 300 yards in the next month. How many inches would you estimate the bullet dropping from 100 to 300 yards? 8-10?

It should drop like 2" to 3" or less, depending where your scope intersects the ballistic trajectory. you would likely see 8" to 10" somewhere past 600 yards.

Thank for the chart.

I hope I can do one or two more things and gets some 300 yard time in. I don't expect much from my skill at 500-600 yeards but maybe with a few more modifications it'll help.

Nice vid :)

If that's a 100 yd group Sir........you don't need to do anything else, you have a shooter right there.
Enjoy.

What? At 500 yds my 168gr Norma match require 14 MOA adjustment with my Rem 700 LTR with a 20" barrel. 5 X 14 = 56". That's 4 1/2'. This is the kind of thing that makes a guy LOL. At 800 meters I had to dial 31 MOA shooting the same ammo from my 700 XCR Tactical. that's 31 X 875(yds) = 271.2". That's 22.6 feet guys. My Iphone has Isnipe as an app and a 338 Lapua mag shooting 300 gr BTHP bullets is about 128 feet low at 2000 meters. That's right over ten stories. Using Norma ammo the Isnipe program told me I would need 30.56 MOA at 875 yds so pretty close but it was also a cold January day when I shot.

I just look at the elevation table on the side of my 308 rifle. These rises are from experience, not predictions - with Sierra 168MK at 2600 fps.

100 = 0

300 + 4 minutes

600 + another 12 minutes (up 16 from 100)

800 + another 11 minutes (up 27 from 100)

I take it back then. Didn't think it had that much drop.

Hey don't feel bad there are guys that think some caliber's are much flatter shooting than others when at practical ranges they really aren't. A few inches at 300 yds. You will also find a gas gun will not have the same muzzle velocity as it uses some energy to cycle.

I might a chance to try it Wednesday at 300 yards maybe further. I'll start with 4 minutes then on a big target and see from there. If I get decent groups I wont touch a thing because I wan't this to work until I can get a nice Savage with decent glass (next year) .

Each click on the standard M14 sight is 1 MOA. Zero your rifle at 100 yds. Should be 8-12 clicks up from bottom. Loosen the screw on your sight and turn the knob so the 200 m mark -1 click is lined up with the receiver mark. Tighten the screw. Verify how many clicks from bottom it is. Now if you are shooting 150 FMJ you should be able to use your sight markings. They truly are great sights. I don't scope my M1A's. It just seems wrong. But then I like the original stocks too.

Don't forget that 1/16 allen wrench so you can zero your front sight.

I got a decent group at 300 yards but it took awhile to get it line up for 500 yards. t I did get it on paper and even hit some pop up targets at 500 yards. Thanks guys
