Got a new Colt IUR yesterday and after NOT LISSING to all the people who said "you can't do that" made me do it..... LOL.... It fits 100% with some wiggle. The same amount of wiggle as the 10.5 norc upper.... I installed a ACCU WEDGE and she stiffened up 80-90%.... The colt on colt setup does have a factory installed black ACCU WEDGE and it so tight at the store they needed a punch to remove the takedown pin. A full range report will follow compareing the true accuracy of both systems to see if my goal of ACCURACY is achieved with the free floating IUR made in Canada upper... P.S Norinco bolt and handle got swooped over.... Not sure what 1-4 scope to get...Possibly a Vortex....

Not sure yet...lol... If I can get a Colt lower one day... I might keep it black.

I'm in the same boat, trying to decide whether to paint the IUR after bumping my 10.5 upper:

We will see how accurate she will be soon.....Maybe the IUR is a 3 moa upper ? Maybe the Norinco 10.5 is a 3.5 moa upper ? Is $1000 worth .5 moa ? If the IUR can get .5 moa, then she is worth all the glory !!!! Lol. I can't wait !!!!!

Enjoy the new "Toy" for what it is…if you really care about MOA you should consider a bolt gun…..damn I shoot my 10.5" LMT with the A2 carry handle/sights for SH*t's & Giggles.
Nice pics btw...

I shoot CQB with the ORA.... I personally find walking and shooting with a 10.5 it moves around more then a longer barrel because of the lack of waight up front... I hope the 15.7 with a little more Weight/Velocity/Build quality will help... Even if it's a few mills, I will take it.... Lol.

Blah blah..... Let's see how accurate it is before we pop open the champagne....
He made a very wise choice as the quality between the two are light years apart however it will work out just fine.

Would the quality difference in the bolt and lower real affect accuracy? I always thought 80% of accuracy is in the barrel.

It is. I guess the trigger does come into play. My old norc lower had a decent trigger, so I never traded it out.
If I were going for more accuracy though, even a ALG combat trigger (ACT) sold from Arms East for under a hundred bucks is a good upgrade. I recommend it.

I agree Bolivar.... Back to my main post.... The 1-7 in the Colt vs 1-9 in the Norc.... I wonder how heavy a round it can handle ? I have seen a lot of IUR in pics all clean and dolled up... But no reports on groupings and types of ammo works best... Not a ferrytale of a friend of a friend that saw a video online...

Should be good with up to 77. An RCMP officer shot NSCC with his issue IUR and 77gn IVI. He placed 3rd in his division of think.

Might get to print so groups with mine next weekend. 55 and 62 gn. We'll see how my time goes. Hard to predict this close to the holidays when you got kids eh.

I was out on the range this week zeroing, shooting steel, and one 100 yard group. It was -10 and I didn't shoot very well:

I'd say thats around 2 MOA with 55gr M193. I should dig the target out and measure it.
