looks neat but you don't hear a lot about them on here...they would probably be popular if they'd be in the 300-400 range like the rest on Norincos...

I own a CF98 as well, and in its defense, the CF98 is a much better pistol than any/all of the Norincos I own or have handled. It's well worth it's current price tag.
The only downside to it is the lack of accessories available in Canada.

Lever Arms has been selling them for a loooooonnng time.

I have been eyeing that one for quite some time now. $490 still seems a bit steep. Is it stamped NORINCO? I got the impression that it was not NORINCO but rather gov issue.

Kinda funny that when Norinco makes a less costly firearm they get ragged on for it being rough and cheap Chinese crap. Then when they build a better product with a lot more polish they get ragged on because it's still "just a Norinco".

All political and ideological arguments aside, both ends of the product spectrum work just fine and most are far more accurate then their handlers. But where would we be without our firearms snobs!

I don't have issues with Norinco's, I have three (correction 4). Just wondering what Lever was getting at with this statement "P.L.A. New Issue". I agree it looks a cut above most Norinco's we have seen, and maybe $500 is fair value.

You do know Norinco dose NOT make firearms.

That is kind of splitting hairs no? Norinco is not in and of itself a manufacture of ANYTHING...but it is the blanket name given to all the factories that fall under the China North Industries Corporation. Norinco as a company oversees the design, manufacture and distribution of many items...including firearms...even if the door on the factory does not say Norinco. And to split the hair a little further...it's only called Norinco in North America (apparently) which means the name has even less to do with anything that happens in China.

Well said Garlond. It appears that the guns coming from China now that are derived from their issued guns are in a completely different class in quality of manufacture. I own quite a few Norcs and my CF98 and my Type 97A are both extremely well made guns, that rival or surpass the North American and European guns I also own.
Search this forum for my thread on the CF98, or my Type 97 thread in Red Rifles and you'll see an abundance of pics that show this very clearly.
When it comes to the CF98 many shooters that have fired mine found they are more accurate with it than my 226 (my only other double action to keep the comparisons somewhat equal).

FWIW the registration certificate for mine actually lists "Chinese State Arsenals" as the maker. Same difference, but it makes for good conversation to show it to friends.

I would love to get one, but have been unable to find magazines for it.

And there is the only problem that I see. I'd love to get more mags, a good holster, and the weapon light and bracket they have for them. Unfortunately when I asked Lever Arms about that they said it wasn't likely, and it's the downside with the more uncommon guns.

i got it in $350 NIB.one thing i forgot to mention that i am residing in Pakistan nowadays.and i purchased this gun here.maga r readily available here.

I don't think so. My understanding is that Norinco is an exporter of weapons and firearms, a government owned and operated trading agent.

They don't design anything. They don't manufacture anything. They pick/order various factories' products and sell them to countries and people in need (e.g. Africa) so they can continue to kill each other with their well made AK-47s or RPGs.

Occasionally they ship some "sporting goods" to Canada for range and hunting use. But this is like 0.005% of their total sales?

I like My Norc, and I cant see me ponying up ( or my wife letting me ) spend $1000 dollars or more for what she calls a "Range" gun.

I would like to really get a P226 though.

I have No problems with my Norc and I have put 2000 or 3000 rds of handloads through it .
