Recieved my 14.5" Norinco last month from a sponsoring dealer here on CGN. Been to the range three times with it and fired a total of 80 rounds (all 2 3/4" light target loads).

I was initially impressed with it but.... on the second range visit a large piece of metal broke off the inside of the reciever (casting etc?) on the ejection side. The shotgun jammed and damaged a shell. After removing the piece of metal we verified the action and as stated, it initially seemed like some poor casting issues. We cycled, dry fired and cycled again. Everything seemd fine. We finished off the box of shells and put it away.

On the third range visit after 5 or six shots the gun started dumping all the shells out of the mag tube each time you cycled the action. Verified the detent lever, even swapped out the trigger group from an 870 at the club. Did not matter. It keeps doing the same thing.

So now the dealer has referred me to the warranty place in Toronto where the guy at that location tells me they'll repair my shotgun. DId I mention I have to pay for frieght each way? I figure seeing as it is less than a month old I should be entitled to an exchange unit with no cost to me.

I have an M305 which I really enjoy and based on it's performance I bought another Norinco (these are the only 2 non "name brand" firearms I own.) So now I'm out $380 plus shipping to & from the service site. Had I know I would have bought a $500 shotgun outright and avoided all this hassle.

Just my rant for the week....

Regards,

Not Norinco's fault:confused:
Norinco must have copied a bad design:evil:
What was it? and 870?

Just kidding! I feel your pain. I have been just as disapointed with more expensive guns:(

if this is a product warranty complaint and it has been less than 6 months or even a year.... I'd be demanding the company that sold or warranites the item handle the shipping... may not get you far... but if they want your business......

Regards,

Yeah I had my ejector spring shear off in 2 spots and had the same problem with mine.... I also had my action bars warped and the front bead blew off...

All under 200rds to and all this happened... To top it off, The gun was seized up to the point that the gunsmith had to use his magic touch to get the pump back to put the barrel on.

This was before Marstar was selling them.... I don't even remember what company I bought it from but they went out of business...

$380:eek: that sucks ,but at that price why buy the norinco? I got a brand new 870 Express 18" ,w/7shot for $380 at WSS , was it the 14" barrel you were after?
many, many slugs and ssg and no problems .If it were me , I would be looking for a exchange and sure as hell would argue the shipping cost as well .
Oh I also own 4 norincos and find them great guns ;)

You do have a good point there BCboy.
Question still remains though,"was it the 14" you were after?"
I've owned 3 Norc's, I now own no Norc's:pirate:

Hold on hold on....A Norinco failing?? Not possible. They're uber top quality. Then you say there warranty is crap? I gotta call BS.

$380 for the shotgun?? Why not spend the extra $20 and buy an 870 express. Spend maybe another $150 on synthetic furniture and have the real deal?? The other option is to spend $449(an additional $70) and buy a 9 shot Mossberg 590. I went cheap, I got the Maverick88(which is Mossberg) 6 shot for $209 and it has yet to fail me. Hell I throw it around for fun.

I guess only time will tell if this problem continues. Keep us posted on your warranty experience.

Hey now. We all know that Norinco communist steel is the hardest in the world (just ask some of the experts here). What Boomer is describing is un-possible.

I feel your pain Boomer. Said company in TO still has my Nork. Cycling issues, unfired  .
Gotta call 'em tomorrow and see what's happening.

(E)

PS
Just got off the phone with them. Sounds like mine was terminal (original problem) and they're replacing it. I never even got to shoot it  :( !
Guy on the phone never mentioned more money. We'll see when it arrives.

I have the MK88 too.. its a handy little shotgun. Just perfect size for grouse hunting imo. I don't go so far as throw mine around, but, I do treat it a lot more roughly then any of my other guns (Not including the SKS, of course)

"un-possible"... is that one of those new-fangled words like "truthiness"?

Frankly, it sounds like you got a lemon. The recent 870 expresses are really no better either with all the MIM parts in them.

If I were you, I would press the dealer for a replacement. If they object, call Marstar and find out if they are the importer. If so, their warranty service will no doubt be superior to your local dealer's.

So what's the deal boys, are we facing a defect issue with HP9's?? Anyone else out there in happy land experience the same metal failure? I suddendly see these guns going for cheap!

Can have miss with anything that's hit most of the time. My old roommates Maverick 88 would not fire or lock up properly unless you slammed the action forward. If you didn't the firing pin wouldn't strike hard enough to set off the primer.

Nelson: Bart is pee!
Ralph Wiggum: I made Bart in my pants!

Anyway, my HP9-1 had a very poor-broken trigger group. I replaced much of what is on it except for the receiver and tube. The receiver and tube are awesome. Ideally you want the Norinco for the receiver, then everything else Remington (or DLASK for barrel) :)

Going this route is still cheaper than getting a new Wingmaster or Police which is nutz (minus the barrel).
