My Norinco Type 97 Shorty - Range Report Post # 80!!!!

Rebarrelling to a non-restricted should be fairly simple, and that way we can get rid of the butt ugly grenade launcher

Um wtf? Grenade launcher? I assume you're referring to the muzzle booster.

Why wouldn't you use one of the standard ones for re barreling? And by easy do you mean it could be done in someone's kitchen?

For $1500 bucks its not economical to spend hundreds on a re barrel IMO

Why the hell would you want to re-barrel that, it destroys the purpose of this unique little rifle. Get a Mosin if you want non-restricted.

Here's a left hand if you know anybody that needs one :D

I'm confused as to why everyone gets all concerned over restricted vs non-restricted. I never go to the range without at least one restricted. For me it's just not an issue, and I sure wouldn't hunt with a Type 97. Besides, a long whippy barrel ruins the look. It's a bullpup, it's meant to be short and to piss off liberals.

As to the boycotting Norinco thing...well to each their own.

Edit: I should be more clear - the laws for restricted and non are beyond rediculous - I just don't let it influence my purchases.

They would like us to be hidden from view at ranges. Non-restricted is open, public and proof that "black guns" need not be scary. That being said, I'd probably get the Krink version AND a long LMG type.

I'm asking bcz the thing is i'm a student and don't have the money for a range membership right now, or for the next few months, so right now all I can shoot are non-restricteds...the libs sure do a good job at making it hard and a pain to shoot the supposidely "evil guns"...

Wondering regarding an optic on it such as an EOtech or an Aimpoint.

Don't really see how you can mount a picattiny rail... maybe an AR-15 mount with see-thru rail would do the job.

Nice little toy!

i just like being able to shoot out in gravel pits ect. ive got two range memberships and i still like to but non-restricted over restricted.

still, if i like something ill buy it regardless of classification, the 97 is just TOO ugly for me

Being NR also stops the CFO from restricting your using the guns by denial of ATT's, as they are doing with SAP's.

Some of us remember $400 or less AKs. Maybe you are right.

I wonder how that Krink shoots with such a short sight radius.

I'll be going to the range next weekend. I will shoot groops to see just how accurate it is. I also have a picatinny rail comming for it. It's made for airsoft but it's machined aluminum so if it mounts solid it shouldn't be an issue for durability.
