My Dad sure gave me some interesting hardware to cut my teeth on when I was a kid..... Got read the riot act when I was 12-13 about no safety on it and it was mine, thought I was something with that semi back in the day. Don't use it too much any more but I have a major range day coming up next week and I think I'll drag the Gevarm along for sh*ts and giggles.... Start to realize how old your getting when you see the age of some of the hand me downs that one has had for a good number of years....

Great looking piece.

Make sure to give your old man a call after the trip to the range to thank him for raising you right, with the right tools.

There is a safety... pull the bolt back another 3/8" and it locks into a hole on the opposite side of the frame. I always preferred to just keep the bolt down on an empty chamber. Mine was a hand-me-down too. Present for my 16th birthday when I could finally hunt "legally". I have no idea how many bunnies and partridge that little gun has accounted for, plus porcupines, skunks, beaver, and the trapper my dad got it from claimed to have shot a bear with it.

Yes he is right about the safety and keeping the bolt closed on an empty chamber can be dangerous. If you drop the rifle on the butt the bolt can bounce open far enough to pick up a shell from the clip but not far enough for the sear to stop it. Bang. Does your rifle stay sighted in with the scope on the receiver? I had to mount a scope on my barrel to keep it sighted in.

For sure on the safety, figured out the detent thing after a couple hrs plinking in the orchard, the 'Ol Boy was a stickler for the "no safety thing" to keep me on my toes..... Never had a unintentional discharge in 35+ years, so all good. Scope seems to keep zero, it aint my CZ but a plenty good camp pot gun...
