I was reading another thread in here that got me thinking about my old model 39 Cooey. Had the thing since I was about 8 years old, which will make it about 35 years old now.
Well, after reading the thread here, I went down and looked at it. She's been rode hard and put away wet more than once let me tell ya... Stock was battered and beat, finish was a mess, rust on the outside of the barrel on one side near the front site... I was mad at myself for letting her get so beat up. So, I picked up some refinishing stuff for the stock and barrel. Just finished it today.

And, without further adou...

Those of you that still have one, post 'em up. Simplest rifle in the world, but sure taught a lot of kids how to shoot....

I gave mine to a new shooter,it was hard to pass on my favourite and eerily my most accurate rifle.
gotta love a cooey!
I could hit a shotgun shell at 100 with irons no problem with that gun, they don't make em like that anymore

I hear ya man. I could pick off a rabbit with a head shot between the eyes at 50-75 yards on irons with that thing. DEADLY accurate. Back in the day, my dad and I would go to the dump, he with his Cooey model 64, me with my 39. We'd sit there for hours on the back of the pickup truck shooting rats in the dump. Got pretty good at picking them off at long distances with a single shot. Also got pretty good at getting another round in the spout in a hurry for that follow up shot!! LOL

Chris59, nice job on your refinishing. How old is that one??

Just picked one up all the way from Labrador. Stock needs serious love but it shoots real good and I will clean it up for my wife and friends cuz my CZ is a leftie.
