Here is a pic of my 2 M14's. I am going to leave the ProMAg long barreled I think and compare long range accuracy to the AKM shorty I just got. We will see ho they compatre. I also got myself a set of dies and brass and am heading down the custom loading trail. I want to tune a longer range round for the Promag and then see what I can get for accuracy out of the AKM.
The Shortie had the full meal deal from M14 doctor including the SS Op Rod adn Spring, trigger job, shorter barrel and flash hider, head space checked and marked on underside of bolt of course. Runs like a swiss clock. The PRS stock is great EXCEPT you cannot use the irons due to the high cheek weld. Not a big loss as it will be low power scoped in the near future for elk season next month.
The Promag was headspaced, it is a 2009 Norc, round count is 20 exactly before Promag swap. I have done a bit of a trigger job to clean it up on my own and the gun has been stripped after break in and every piece has been inspected cleaned and lubed. I am toorn as to what handguard to go with on the Promag still. I have a Marstar scpe mount to use on the gun for now but we will see what the future holds for this one. If the shortie has the same accuracy as the stock barreled one I will end up shortening it and getting a USGI muzzle break for it.
