MY PAL still is not in my mail box!!!

PALs regularly going missing in the postal system suggests to me that someone in the system is stealing them and selling them. RCMP recently busted an operation that involved changed pics and names on many different kinds of ID including PALs.
The fake PALs wouldn't work for firearms purchases, but they would permit purchase of ammunition.

Quite your whining. If you're in ontario, prepare to wait for ANYTHING to do with paper work for firearms and licenses. I waited just under four weeks for my PAL/RPAL. You'll get yours.

When should renewals be sent in ?

1 month before expiry or sooner?

Why send them registered mail ?, they go to a PO Box
Sooner. Remember that if the renewal is not processed before your current licence expires you become a criminal instantly, so be generous with the amount of time. I'd say 3 months is reasonable if you don't have any prohib privileges.

If you send Registered Mail, you need to include (read pay for) Signature Required. Even if you are sending to a PO Box, Canada Post is required to get a human to sign for it.

That's what I did with my PAL/RPAL application, and it was issued on line yesterday (day 28), so now I am waiting for my card in the mail...

Phone and ask them to give you the PAL number. This will allow you to buy firearms prior to receiving the actual card.

That's odd, I called them to find out my PAL number, only to be told "We cannot give out that information over the phone" :(

Has anybody done this successfully in the recent past?

BTW, I totally agree with you, Eigenvectors and Eigenspace is really important :)

Cheers,
Sand

It would be a hell of a lot easier to ask someone with a pal to buy you ammo, I don't buy this.

Maybe identity theft but this is unreasonable even for a criminal

I called and asked the same thing about a month ago, and even though my card had been issued and was in the mail they refused to give me the number.

Maybe its a new rule?

From what I've understood reading this thread here, some people are able to obtain their PAL number from the CFO. Many say that making a purchase in person is not possible without a PAL card in hand.

Regardless, waiting for my card in the mail is the most simple but nerve racking option. :(

I sure am happy for those that purchased guns without their PAL cards. I bought a rifle at my local gun store just after applying for my PAL, they said I can't pick it up without the card in hand. :(

I'm in the same boat... I have a brand new CZ 75B waiting in the safe at the Gun Shop... I'm waiting on my card to arrive... Stupid Mail:mad:

Oh well... Like Tom Petty said... "The waiting is the hardest part".

All this grief and strife will be long forgotten once our cards arrive!

It took 46days for me to get mine. That includes the day i dropped it off in the cfo of bc. ^ They won't give you the number over the phone because they don't think it is safe.
