Started out as a Stevens 200 22-250
Now still a 22-250 but sports a Shilen barrel
Stock has been modified by myself, still needs a little cosmetic finishing.
Stock has been glass bedded and has had a trigger job, both done by RK Custom gunsmithing.
I replaced the original bolt handle for a larger tactical handle from Sharp Shooting Supplies
And finally it is sporting a Falcon Menace 10x

Total price:
Stevens 200 $320
Shilen barrel $400
Trigger and bedding $75
Bold Handle $50

$845 for the rifle

Plus

Falcon Menace $350
Buris Rings $50
Eagle Ammo Pouch $50
Harris Bi-Pod $120

=$1415

And about 1 year to gather and put together peices

I bought the barrel of Mysticplayer and its 1in7 twist. I was using the cheap Winchester 45gr. JHP that comes in the 40rd boxes that I bought at Walmart!! It seems to like these little fellas.

freddyfour, well done. I like the stock work - How did you do it? Any pics of the build?

I am surprised that you got that type of accuracy from factory Win ammo. Didn't think that stuff would go 1/3 min. Be interesting to see what you can do with handloads and match bullets.

Enjoy...

You guys modding the Stevens are you leaving them as a repeater or is there a way to convert them to a single shot? Also is there any loss in accuracy between the repeater and a single shot. ?

Thanks

I have found no loss of accuracy by using a repeater action ( I am happy with 1/4 min 200yd accuracy). My F class rifles were all mag fed rifles.

I just glue in a Hi Score single shot follower to turn them into single shots.

Nice. Just what I want to do. Are you going to try launching some heavier 80-90 gr. VLD's at longer ranges?

I will one day, but being a 'poor man's custom rifle' I haven't bought dies or plates for 22-250 yet so for now its just factory stuff for now. But thats why I got that twist so I could shoot something a little heavier. I am also limited to 300 yards for now, my range only has 200 and I can only get out to 300 safely on the farm with out pointing towards houses.

Me too!!! I have tried a couple different factory rounds and these seem to shoot the best so far. Even tried some hand loads for a nice gentelman from the range and these still shot better. Go figure:confused:

I did have pics of the build but not sure what i did with them. I stole a combination of ideas from your thread, Magnumpeanut's thread and probably others to but can't remember. The forend is cedar wood shims and the rest is a combination of fiberglass bondo and your regular bondo. Still could use some finishing like more sanding and a better paint job. But I'm not out to win a beatuy contest, just want it to work good and last long.

The original barrel had a manufactures defect and was baddly pitted withing a month so it didn't shoot very well at all. I had painted the whole gun and could send it back so thats why I started this project.
