My resurrected Longbranch

Well I finnally had time to take her out and shoot. And shoot she does.
1943 Longbranch No 4 MK I* that I picked up dirt cheap($50) that bubba had some special time with. At least he left the metal work alone. Picked up a stock and all the hardware for $83 and this is what came of it.
Without a using a rest off the bench I was getting groups around 1.4'' with 180gr federals. Im happy with it. Looks nice and shoots even better.

Can't believe i forgot that. Its a nice 2 grove, with no pitting and nice sharp rifling.

I can get about 6-8" inch with 10 shots on mine on a good day.

But my eyes a'int what they used to be...

I also have a 43 Longbranch, #4 MK.1, 2 groove barrel. I bought it from a buddy 15 yrs ago for $50 bucks. I'm not sure where he found it, but someone before him cut the barrel shorter, put a sporterized stock and crowned the barrel The sights were also removed and a scope 3X9X40 bushnell, added (Hunting rifle, basically). I've had to clean some rust off the end of the barrel, but haven't gotten around to re-blueing it.

I also have a 1953 PF(Paul Fulton), #4, MKII. It is in excellent shape. All original, and is a 5 groove(nice sharp rifleing). I bought it 10 yrs. ago because I liked it. Haven't done much with it yet either.

I haven't done much playing with either of them at all. I don't have a membership at any of the local gun clubs yet, so I have no where to shoot it around here. Not sure what kind of groups they will shoot. I hope it will be at least near close to yours.
I have plinked with them a couple of times up north at the in laws farm, but only with old military ball ammo. Some day I will get some better rounds and and check them out a little better. Especially for grouping. Do some comparing between the old milsurp ammo and the new stuff I buy. Obviously the new ammo would be better, but will be fun to see it!

Yes, shot from 100. Would have done a five shot grouping to show everyone but only had three four rounds left when i thought of it. One of em ended up whailing the 300m gong.(the top part of the gong anyways, that was not in the 3 feet of snow) The other 3 to the grouping

God bless ya for rescuing that fine bubba'ed boomstick. Nice to see that kinda restoration happening.

I've got a soft spot for bubba'ed No.4 Mk1's even cut down puppies. Once I find another for the right price (read: cheap ass bubba), then I'll cut it down further into a Jungle Carbine wannabee, including all the wood set and flash hider installed.

Great looking No.4, the way that they deserve to remain !
