My rifle shoots 1/2" groups @100 yards all day! Really? Prove it.

Nice work yodave.

just think what would have happened if all five shot groups were with the same powder load...............they are all 0.2 grains apart........
looks like I can load this one by eye instead of weight and still maintain bragging rights.............

Just a reminder. Enter your average group size, smallest group size, a pic of your rig as it was when you shot your groups a pic of your 5 groups and a pic of your smallest group with the calipers showing the group size. Bear with me, as we go along.

thats a lot of pictures to shoot.....I'd rather shoot the rifle......but rules are rules.
want a picture of my smallest group with the calipers??

better yet I am going to do it again but this time around shoot the same 22.6 grain load that gave me the 0.186 inch group

Now there is a guy with confidence in his rifle and shooting. Way to go

The key is to fold your target paper in half 3 times then shoot your group. Now you'll have six groups of identical size ;)

Jj

Fun challenge if it wasn't -30 out. I'll give it a whirl in the spring. I'll start folding my targets until then ;)

All groups must be under .500" and ONLY 5 groups. No picking and choosing. The idea is to separate the talkers from the doers.

Problem is you will have guys doing it at 50 yards and claiming 100 yards.
The only time it really counts is in competition otherwise you will still have guys cheat on it. In the end, who cares?

honesty is as honesty does........

My advice is to not call someone out until you post a picture of your best efforts :nest:

Good "challenge" and an even better reality check. It is great to see some recognition given to five shot groups consecutively shot. I hope to participate in about a month.

I say screw the cold excuses. Say how many attempts it realistically took to get 5 on a row under 1/2 inch in the winter and then try it when it is warmer. The key is there are claims that it will shoot 1/2 inch or less on any given day if I do my part. Well cold weather is any given day. I will be out Friday to give it my attempt.

100% true. Any givin day !! Amen

Believe it or not I had a 22-250 Remington Varminter in the late 80's that would shoot 1/2 MOA all day at 100 yards. It had a crude trigger job and was bedded and free floated. I guess I was lucky because no other rifle I have owned has ever been as accurate.

The scope was a cheap Weaver 15x fixed. That rifle took many yotes and gophers in southern Alberta.

Of course I sold it in 1991 for GT-40 cylinder heads for my Mustang. *sigh*

So what kind of challenge is this?
I thought it was supposed to be shoot 5 - 5 shot groups @100yds on a target and that's it.
I don't see the point of picking the best 5 shot groups. The gun is supposed to shoot .5 MOA anytime anywhere.

five consecutive .5 moa groups in a row....if you print 3 and then shoot a larger group on the 4th attempt then the first 3 get washed and you start over...........all 5 groups must be on the same target.....

There should be a standardized downloadable target so we can all scale from home..........mine was stolen from 6mm dot com in the downlable targets area....

could be hard to see the bullet edges in that black background if you hitting in the center.

try this one h ttp://accurateshooter.net/targets/TargetC.pdf

Any target is fine. As long as the holes can be clearly seen. You can gauge the group size by the rifle caliber and the measurement of the smallest group that should have the calipers in it showing the group size. I don't think a standard target is a good idea because myself and I am sure others like to match their target size to the reticle. I personally like shooting at a dot that measures .63" with my 14X Nikon. So go ahead and use whatever target you desire. Just remember to include the picture with the calipers measuring your smallest group.
