CBC radio here in NB announced today that the non-native moose hunt here in the province will be cut back to 3000 licenses from 4700. It wasn't that many years ago that the total was 6000.
The reason cited for the cutback was the biologists have no way to track the aboriginal hunt and how many moose are taken in that hunt. Many moose taken in that hunt are reputed to be shot and sold. How traditional is that?!!
So in order to keep the herd healthy the non-natives have to be cut back in their moose hunting opportunities.
I've been here in NB since 1985 and have been drawn for a tag once
What about my rights?
If it wasn't for my immediate family and it's roots here in NB, I'd be out of here so fast ................
