Not well with federal 17 grain...all have tried so far, I heard they like 20 grain stuff better. I have some hornady 17 grain i will try next

I was told (by someone who knows) that all 17hmr ammo is made in the same factory. just labeled diffent so the only differnce is bullet type and wieght same bullet by differnt brands is the same

Seriously? That would be handy to know if it is true.

the guy who told me was a rimfire target shooter and the manager of a large us gun store all .17HMR ammo is made by cci he even told me he had to send some hornady ammo back because they had cci head stamps on them. you will notice that all different makes use all the same bullets eg: 17grn vmax. also they all come in the same type of plastic case where as the different manufactures of 22mag are different ( this guy is a very trusted source )

Yes.....and no.

All of the V-Max bullets are loaded at the same factory (Federal, Hornady, Winchester, Remington, etc) But they must be loaded to different specs, or with different powder. The are most definitely NOT the same.

My 597 LS HB HMR groups averages:

Hornady 17 gr. V-max 2.26"
Winchester 17 gr. V max 1.64"
Federal 17 gr. V max .94"
Remington 17 gr. V max 1.21"

These are based on 5 shot groups, two boxes (each) of ammo used. Most definitely not the same!

Just to throw this into the mix.....CCI 17 gr TNT HP.... .371" :D

Could it be you are shooting different lots?

The CCI TNT I have found to be the best shooting as well!
And the bullets are made in the same factory, just using different ingredents. CCI does there batch, Hornady does theres, Federal does theres etc.
Just look at the differences on the .22lr. No two companys will make the same groups.

How Far???
