My Rolling Block

Here is a picture of my Remington Rolling Block, in 43 Egyptian calibre.
This appears to be one of the Remington left over, intended for Argentine, but not sent, thus it does not have the Argentine markings, but seems to be the same otherwise. The web site states these were later sold to the publicc.

What is the barrel length on that? Are you shooting it?

The Rolling Block

Barrel length is 35 inches, measured the usual rifle way, to bolt face. The calibre is 43 Egyptian. I have one dummy case that appears to fit perfect, but to be sure I made a wax cast, put it in the deep freeze to harden it, then used the micrometer on it. I have the dimensions for that cartridge and it measured exactly to it.
The barrel is in near perfect condition, so I would like to shoot it, but so far have no brass. They may be able to be made from 348 brass, but haven't tried it yet. At a gun show was a similar rifle with about 18 brass, but of course they wouldn't sell any brass, unless I gave them the $1,700. for the outfit!!
If you are wondering how I got the red effect when looking down the barrel, here is the skinny on it. I tried to get the nice shiny bore by having something white as a background, but it just glared and washed out the lands. So I crumpled my red handkerchief up and put at the breach, shined a light on it and this is what came up.

If it's any help, I have one set of NDFS 43 Egyptian dies left with shell holder, for $80 in green money plus postage.
They are the remmants of a shipment from the U.K. sent to me to sell.
I was holding them for another person, but he hasn't got back to me for months.
