I just picked up my first handgun from the post office last night. I'm rather pleased with it, and think it was a good choice for a first handgun (especially due to the fact that it shoots cheap, but powerful surplus ammo). It's a 1942-dated Tokarev TT33.

I got it home and started tinkering with it, obviously. It would almost seem that I haven't put it down since it got here.

My room mate let me borrow his camera to take some pictures of it, and share it with CGN. He's a member here, somewhere. More like a lurker :)

Anyways, here it is, in all of its glory: the Tokarev TT-33!

First off congrats and enjoy.

I had one and could not hit the broad side of a barn door with it so i decided to sell it off. I think you will be wanting a 9mm Glock or M&P soon enough to be honest.

Welcome to the wonderful world of handgun shooting!

Well, I have a Beretta 96D coming in shortly, if everything pans out. So my Tokarev will be my uber-cheap accuracy-indifferent plinker, and the Beretta in .40 S&W will be my more performance-minded gun.

Really, the main reason I wanted a Tokarev TT33 is because of the history behind them. It's the same reason I wanted an SKS.

Not because they're pretty and definitely not for accuracy. Rather, I wanted them because they are functional monuments to modern conflicts, and that commands respect and admiration from me.
