I'm actually put off by this. I was expecting to not have to pay till the end of febuary....I have the cash but was gonna get a PU scope and mount for my mosin. Choises...choises...

I'm on the list as well, but can we define "shooters grade"?

Are these seriously worn and are "good+" ones available?

Reminds me of the Garand excitement only to find most were pretty beat up.

maybe thats why they dont want to pull any surprises so they are telling us now.

heres is their definition of what a shooters grade are:

Thanks , I haven't checked my e mail in awhile .
I guess I have a call to make .
Seem's odd to me they want money for the lesser condition rifle only and not for the premium ones ?
Personally I put in for a premium one and payment on delivery would be preferable but I guess now or later don't make much difference to me when its only a couple hundred .
7 weeks ? they state delivery in March , I assume thats when the tin can touches Canadian soil. I hope their delivery times are prompt , I could see a lot of pissed off customers wanting their paid for rifles when April or May roll around . Won't that be a wonderfull thread .lol

good question, IMHO, they wont have any problem selling the premium ones , even at a higher price according to what i read on the frontier thread, majority of the orders are for premium, maybe that is why they decided to give a better deal on the lower end.

throwing in the shipping , escentially brings the lower end (shooters grade) SKS to $200.

WTF . I sent e-mail well over a week ago putting me on there "list'' for one , No response , I phoned last Monday they said they could not get there e-mail working so they took my name & ph # & e-mail and said I was confirmed for 1 when they came in . And now they change there web page & procedure to get one ??????. I have received no e-mail from them , first I herd of this is reading this post . I am definitely NOT impressed ! You can bet I'll be on the phone to them tomorrow

im not crazy about this change either.

i place my order by phone within 30 min after the announcement and marlin ask me to follow up with an email , both done .....and now , bcos i want a premium grade my order is sent to the back of the line behind a whole bunch of new orders for the shooters grade, bummer.

I called tham rather than speculate.

The first 100 ppl to e-mail them got this response. This is to let ppl know they can get a CHEAPER "shooter grade" rifle for $229 shipped.

The collector grade rifles are still available to those who want them in the $250-290 range.

Your credit card isn't being billed now. They are just taking the NUMBERS to confirm orders.

If you still want a colelctor grade rifle CALL them (ie, don't e-mail unless you want to risk being misunderstood and get a cheaper gun) and say so. They will take your CC number as a sort of "deposit", billable in March.

Then send an e-mail reconfirming your phone call and stating you want a matching COLLECTOR GRADE russian SKS.

Don't assume folks. Call and get the real scoop.

they said this process will not effect the "collector grade" orders except that it will be shipped at a later date after the "shooters grade" are filled.

i will call to confirm my collector grade order but i will do it at a later date or wait for an email from frontier, like you said i dont want my order confused.

I'm after a premium rifle but called Marlin just to secure the order .
He said the top 10% are going to be set aside as premium and go for $269.95 plus freight . He also said late Febuary to early March for shipment of these rifles. He took my complete order and told me my card will only be billed when they process the order ( as in have and ship out your gun ). personally I feel thats fair, he's gotta do something to seperate the people who are all talk and no action from those with money .
So if you got money and want a premium rifle you might be inclined to make a phone call now before they run out .

thanks rupzuk, i emailed marlin and got confirm for two russian SKS hand selected.

So,
I got Marlin's Email yesterday and responded (in an Email) that yes, I would like to take advantage of his offer of a "shooter" with free shipping, and sent all info/CC/etc, but commented that I also want a "collector" as well and to advise me when he needs payment for such.
Do I need to call him as well??
I guess I'm just making it difficult for myself, but I don't have a phone (company cell only), and rely on the "net" to do these deals.
