My SAA in .455 Arrived

Well after wanting one for a long time I finally had to do it
Cal .455 Barrel 5.5 Finish Blue
Shipped to the Colt london Agency 14 Pall Mall London England in 1883
I love the simplisity of the workings . Far less moving parts to get the job done as opposed to some of My British Pistols.

It's a beauty Dez It's making me change my mind about selling mine but I want a Harley and the wife says thats the only way. Crap maybe I'll just buy a rice burner and keep the gun.

It came from a fellow collector in BC he had purchased it originally from the US out of Cabellas and I fell in love with it and told him if he ever wanted to sell it that I would buy it . And of course I pestered him for it every once in awhile . It cost me a pretty penny but I love it.
 
Thats a beauty! they are so simple to work on compared to the british guns but thats cause most british guns are DA
I just picked up a beauty Antique Numbers matching SAA colt, its gona be shooting 44 Russian and 44 Sp.

So how deep are the chambers in that 455 gun DEZ will it chamber the longer domion 455 cases.
I was shooting my Remy 1875 its set up to chamber a full 45 Schofield it also shoots the 455 Domion Colt ammo as well.

Anyway im sure you will just shoot 455 in it but ya can buy another cylinder set it up in 45 schofield if ya want and the bore will still like .454 Keith bullets.
Gives ya a little more stuff to play with. ;)
I might have a New cylinder in 45 Schofield that would fit right in your Colt.

Well yes, the British guns of that period were double action. Lets see, HOW LONG did it take colt to come up with a D.A. revolver????? And please don't call the colt lightning any great success.

LOL Ya and the 1878 Double Action aint nothing to write home about either i have 3 of em none are as nice a DA as any of my WGs or even MKIs.
The Webley DA were about the best i think.

My DA S&W Frist Model long clinder DA is quite good to tho.
 
Had a funeral to go to today will try it out tomorrow going out to farm for lunch, Dad can't wait to try it out at 75 he's probably a bigger kid than me
 
Watching "The last days of Patton" right now and would LOVE to be able to walk around with 2 pearl handled 6 guns.

The reason Colt did not have a good DA until quite late is they did not really need one. They had the Lightning even though it was complex and breakable but anyone who wanted a hard use colt bought a SAA.

Well put 100 rnds through it today and was not disapointed it functioned flawless and was acurate . I always start by shooting at a target before shooting at the reactive steel and cans we have set up on the fence trigger was excelent brakes crisp and clean . Well here is a Pic of the target was shot at 25yrds off hand 5 rounds grouping will be better but not bad for the first time out .load MKII cases with 5grs Blue dot 255gr semi wad cutter from the bullet barn in BC

My Wilkinson 455 model 1892 did the same thing a cross spread like that.
Must be a 455 Trait. its still great shooting tho.
Try a few .454 sized keith bullets outa it to and some proper 455 HB x 265 gr Webley bullets.

Thats a sweet gun worth alot! you were smart to get it. ;)
