good attempt... but that grip is not positioned properly for most hands... maybe its perfect for you though, don't know... the reason there is usually a gap behind the trigger guard is to position the web of the hand in the right position for the trigger finger to engage the trigger at the tip... your is so far forward that finger engagement will probably be too deep... if you maintain that forward position you may have to leave the grip super thick front to back to properly position your hand... I'm not sure how good that will feel... keep us posted on your progress... there is nothing like building your own stock for enjoyment in shooting.
Actually, that grip configuration looks a lot like a semi-auto pistol. I like the looks, and you are doing a nice job of shaping around the rear of the trigger guard, IMHO. It looks like you might need to either relieve it a bit around the extended mag release to allow comfortable access, or perhaps go with a shorter release.
This is an interesting project. I am looking forward to seeing its progress.
Hey guys, thanks for the interest.I had posted some pics of the completed build a couple months ago. Here it is again.I've since added a Kidd charging handle assembly.
Agreed, looks great... A little bit of texture on the stock would be nice, but looks good overall. Must've taken a fair bit of sanding to get it all smooth.
