My Sig sp2022 finally came.

No worries there will never be a ruger in my safe. I think the next one i am getting in a glock 17. The wife seems to be able to grip it better, she can't even pull the trigger on the sig with one finger... So that isn't going to work.

try the P345, and then say you don't want a ruger :) WAY better than the 2022. sold mine.

ruger better than a sig.... thats like saying hyundai is better than honda,
maybe what you mean to say was, ruger has really changed their sh!t and the new p345 is quite an improvement. and bang for your dollar isnt a bad gun, and i do agree with you, i think they are starting realize people dont buy crap anymore,, no offense steeleclipse . ( i havent fired a p345 yet but i hear its quite nice.)

and about the movie and guns thing, im always checking out what gun they are using in each movie, who has what. I dont buy it because of the movie, but the movie makes it a tiny bit more on the cool end. i mean come on ppk , bond. whoever says the ppk isnt a cool ,iconic gun is nuts. s&w 29 .come on dont you feel just a little bit lucky with that in your hands.

ps on your next being a glock 17, great choice good luck.

Took it to the range today.. put 400 rounds through it. 100 of some winchester factory, and 300 of some once fired from blackdimond alberta that i got at TSE. Some fail to eject problems, Which i am not too worried about (from both ammo makes). I didn't lube it, or too much of a wipe down ither, pretty much right out of the box. All cleaned and lubed now. Next weekend i will put a few hundred more through it, which will determin whether i call sig or not.

FYI - I had the same problem for the first 4 or 5 hundred rounds, which were mostly professional reloads. On average I experienced one jam per mag, regardless of cleaning and lubing. Sometimes the empty brass was so firmly stuck in the chamber that I needed a cleaning rod from the muzzle end to punch it out. Make sure to thoroughly clean out the inside of the mags, and you may have to stick to factory rounds for the Sig Pro. I thought it may have been an extractor problem, but she has been running flawlessly with factory 115gr and 124gr Winchester, Fiocchi, and Federal AE for the last 500 rounds or so.

Went to TSE this afternoon and put another 150 rounds through it. Tried a box of their 100 grain winchester clean ammo. A box of my winchester 124 grain, and some of the CBM Once fired 124 grain. Quick mag drains, and slow shots, no issues at all. I knew it was just a break in thing. All in all impressed with it, since it is my first pistol i am not putting shots into very tight groups but this beeing my 2nd outting to the range, was by far better than the first.

I said, p345 over 2022, not Ruger over Sig. Thanks though :)

oh sorry should a read it a little better,
hmm,,, that would be a good test. p345 vs the 2022, the ruger is just about half the price, plus and i read a few forums about 2022 being a little bit finicky about the ammo you use in it..

might be trying out a p345 this weekend. i havent fired the 2022 yet so i wont really be comparing anything cept a p220/226 from the sig line.
i will let you know what i think though steeleclipse

Try it. I think you will be pleasantly suprised. 220 and 226 are still way better than the p345. The 2022 just doesn't feel like a Sig.

Well i can't say, this is my first sig. I am happy with it, i was looking for some thing i can put many thousands of rounds through without a major rebuild. I just haven't heard ANY good about ruger pistols, i know some one who worked at a range and he knows what will take a beating, and what people just hype up. Nothin agains't you guys but i'll trust some one who has seen a million plus rounds come and go through the shop pistols.

Going to take over the range on monday and set up a small match. So i'll get to see how well it does perform. It's nice when all the old muzzle loaders get lost once the scary guys in greens and body armour show up :)

lol, id be interested in hearing a review blaster, i do agree with you, i have heard the same come from gunsmiths, and a few guys that work at the ranges. however i can understand ruger redesigning a guy like the p345 , because i think in the centerfire pistol dept, they havent been doing that well with reliability. so a change was made. a friend of mine is picking up a p345 in the next month, so i will have more of an opinion on a long term standing in the future. however nothing is perfect, a few jams arent the end of the world. its when you see someone at the range yell F#$% real loud because his 226 cpo frame cracked.

steeleclipse i agree with you, it just doesnt fit the sig line, but ive been so used to the p220/226/228/229 etc etc. i guess it was time for something new. just wish we didnt have to have that stupid longer barrel for it (2022) .

Yeah just slightly grumpy this morning, didn't have my coffe in me yet, didn't mean to freak out that bad:redface: . I just don't like beeing compared to some movie guy...

When dad bought his 226 we were having FTF/FTE right from Day one. Called up Sig they said to store the firearm for a day or two with the slide pulled back. After that was no problem. Had to do with that coil spring Sig uses.

Mine was the same.... Did the trick and it worked.

Rob, you mean with the slide closed? I store it with the slide open, obiously, so i can lock it up. I will give that a try, like i said it was like night and day difference from first and second time out. So i am really not worried about it, if it is still being an S.O.B by the 3rd or 4th day out i'll call sig and see what they say. But if that will help, why not giv'er a go.

glockur, it is time that ruger does SOME THING about their issues. At some point they have to, or go out of business.. plain and simple. I'll keep my ear to the tracks over the next few years, see what people are saying about the newer ruger pistols. I mean i can't say anything bad about the ruger 10/22's but their pistols, i will need some convincing.
If my slide cracked... there would be one hell of a #### comming from my bay.. follwed by a Un-identifyed Flying Object going air born. :)

Nope Slide locked back ( open )

blasterbaily lol, you and me both, a crack is no laughing matter.

i was looking at getting a 10/22 .so many accessories and options.
i take it they are pretty well built.

really? Well maybe i am the rare one here. I "try" to buy things that are known to be reliable. Movies never really play into the purchase factor for me. Mainly because i don't watch many of them anymore, i think the last movie i seen was "i am legend"... Wasn't really paying attention to what he was packing. Was more thinking about what i would be packing.

Yeah I know what you mean. I don't solely go off of "cool factor" when I buy a gun. Feel is number 1 (especially for handguns). Then it is closely followed by reliability and accuracy. After that it is cool factor and look/finish, and than price.

I mean if i am looking to buy some thing and everyone has em, there might be some thing to it. So i'll look into what the buzz is about, but if it is pure hype and not actually a quality product i don't usually buy it.

*cough* Glock *cough* :nest:

Can anyone recommend a paddle or belt holster for the SP2022 and where to buy it? I know I can order one but 4-6 wks is a long time to wait to holster my new Sig!!

Cheers!

I just ended up getting one of those ones you strap to your leg. BUT when i was looking, i went into the shooters edge, and we tried a few holsters they had, on the 2022 they had under the counter. Most everything for the sig 226 fit the 2022 fine, the only issue we had is ones that had a thumb strap to hold it in, didn't always close. I was going to get a leather one and just work it in, since the 2022 was too big by mear mm. But if you found a thumb strapless holster for the 226 you shouldn't have any issues. Call some local shops in victoria see what they carry for sigs.

Was funny even the guy helping me out said right away the 226 ones won't fit, then woop the 2022 sildes right in, then he tries to close the strap and i mean it was soo close... I thought it was funny how adament he was "no no no, 226 ones won't work" then easy as pie.!

For those who are looking, blackhawk industries makes all kinds of great holsters formed for the SigPro 2022. They're one of the first companies I've seen (besides safariland) to make holsters specifically for the 2022.

Blackhawk, the company that puts out foreign(read Asian) made holsters and nylon gear. Some of which have been linked to negligent discharges or complete failures to release the firearm. Let me run right out and get one....
