okay, before I lose it, help me out guys! I had to take off the sights on my m14 to mount a scope, but now that I want to put the sights back on, they knobs are jamming up. They worked beautifully before though. When I assemble the sight, the flat on the thread on the elevation pinion catches a flat in the windage knob and makes it so that both know turn at the same time, I have tried figuring it out but am at a loss..... Am I missing a part here or something:confused:?

Hmmm... No reply's EH.

I have been watching this post, as every time I dissa my rear USGI sight it's a guessing game to get it back together. Very very frustrating as the parts seem so simple. Most often I get it all back together but the sight is off center.

The only advice I can give is try, try, and try again.... That's what I end up doing

I use this link as a guide:

Please post any revolations you find.

The shaft of the pinion is supposed to mate with a free-turning bushing inside the windage knob. If you pull the windage knob off, can you spin the bushing freely?

I'm afraid I can't take mine apart to talk you through it: mine never stayed together so I had to loctite it in place. But you might be able to find the armourer's manual for the M1 Garand online somewhere to explain the process.

k, I'll take a look at it again and give it a try, thanks for the help. It's frustrating because I have assembled it before and it worked, just scracthing my head now...

Got It!, turns out the bushing was stuck in place from a bit of glue that I had used previously to keey the tensioning screw from coming loose. didnt even know there was a bushing in there. Thanks BattleRife
