My SKS journal

your project SKS is truly awesome. if you want criticism, I would have made the diameter smaller :p

I agree. I love the look of your "Bubba" vision. It is your gun so do what you want with it! :D

However I too think that the suppressor would look better if it were a tad bit smaller in diameter.

Thanks for the compliments and feedback guys! :)

In retrospect the can does look kind of big. Seeing how I couldn't make it very long I thought I could make up for it in girth. **For the record I've NEVER EVER had a woman tell me that. NEVER** LOL
Maybe I'll dig around for smaller tubing and build another one.

Remember;
Long and thin goes farther in,
Short and stout makes em shout,
While long and stout won't come out.

What if you took the can right back that extra cm to the stock, that would make it longer, and would magnify its appearance of length if you did make the can smaller in diameter.

I think this epitomizes what SKS rifles are for. Sure I wouldn't recommend cutting up a particularly rare one (a Yugo for example) but SKSs aren't exactly like hen's teeth are they? I've been trying to get around to putting a Tapco on my chicom as I've been unhappy with the feel of mine. LOP is just too short in my opinion. Maybe Russian ones are longer(?). After reading through this thread, and loving how this SKS looks (hopefully it performs as good) I think I can see a Tapco in my future. Basically I think the pistol grip is what I'm looking for. The rails on the other hand I could do without personally.

Just read the entire thread... kudos for building a very well executed rifle. I wish I had the skill and time you have to put into my sks.

Wow.. very nice work, Must be the best Bubba-SKS project i've seen :)
As for criticism, I'd agree with the rest about shrinking the diameter, also you might get POI shifts with this airsoft red dot. How much does the rifle weigh now?

Thanks for all the kind words. :)
Aside from making a smaller fake suppressor I think this rifle project is pretty much done. I guess now I'll have to buy another SKS and start new bubba project! :D

I haven't actually weighed the rifle yet, but it feels like it's in the neighborhood of 10lbs with a loaded Tapco mag. As for the red dot, it's just on there for looks until I get a proper one. It's so crappy it doesn't even have enough windage adjustment to get the dot centered! hahaha
