My SKS project

Thanks for new added support everyone. It is a work in progress, I like tinkering and building stuff.

Just wish I had some shop tools handy to actually fabricate what I want.

I like what you have so far Luke. :) You might want to consider a folding stock that folds all the way over to the left of the receiver so it will not interfere with the action - although adding a Choate scope base might complicate things a bit. There was a fellow over on the Home gunsmith forums who made a 'bantam' SMLE and made a solid side folder with a heavy welded hinge, he also made a pretty solid locking mechanism for it. It was an old thread.

Nice work luke... Im about to bubba my chinese sks, any info helps including yours.

Im gonna mount( drill+ tap) an angle iron to the receiver to mount the scope to keep scope as low as possible, and hopefully make it more accurate than the iron sights.
The wood stock will be replaced with a plastic one. Ive just got to get turkey hunting out of my mind before I start the project.

The sks with the silver prototype stock looks like the

Official Firearm Of WarAmps.........f:P:

Good on you for trying something new, but IMHO i dont think the toip folder would ever work, unless its an AK type or never fire it closed

^^^ hence a prototype, the ugly wood grip thingy makes it look really bad too. The prototype worked folded and extended just fine, however, now that I got the chaote mount, I dont thing a top folder will work. But I can still make it for my recently purchased 870 :)

now thinking about a mp5 sliding stock :D :

Most of the time the only way to get a stock / firearm modified to your standards is to make / modify it yourself. I don't want to say anything bad about cherry picking Canadian gunsmiths but hey that's the reality in Canada. Do it yourself or it will never get done - unless you can get a US gunsmith to do it for you (US gunsmiths are competitive. :D)
