Here are the SKS versions I have- The russian laminate is by far my favorite and is the best shooter of the 3. The chinese seems to be lighter with the poorest trigger. The russians (speaking of mine) definately have a more solid feel overall compared to the chinese version. The chinese model has no factory marking. Suprising amount of variation between the 3.

The trigger on the both both the russians I have- is not much different from my old savage single shot .22 (in feel). The chinese trigger on the one above has a funny rub effect where if you take up the slack, it will kind of "set" and stay there if you release it. If you squeeze again this annoying grind is not present and the trigger breaks a little better.

A quick smoothing with a jewelers file on all the contact surfaces in the trigger group will make a world of difference. Its just the roughly machined surfaces grinding on each other. Knock down the burrs and machining marks and they trigger will be as smooth as an SKS-D. While youre in there you can correct the sear angle to slightly positive for a safer trigger, then shorten the sear to remove creep. Cutting 2 coils off both the hammer and sear spring will bring the trigger pull down a little too. This helps get your rate of fire up which is essential if you want to light your handguard on fire ;) or you can use it to aid in accuracy, your choice :) Nice family photo BTW
