My son is now a gun owner!!!

In honor of the Ontario liberal victory Thursday night, I bought my 9 yr son a Savage Rascal. I noticed that it is pre-drilled for a scope mount, which is tempting me to buy him a scope. Something in me is telling me to let him learn to shoot with the peep site 1st. What are your opinions? Btw, anyone thinking of getting a kid this rifle, and looking for feedbacl, I highly recommend it.

Awesome! My son had the same gun when he was t-minus one month old. I even procured the bases and rings.

We will start out on the peep though.

Yes, definitely irons first. Really drilling in safe gun handling and habits. When he has the safety and iron sight marksmanship down ...buy him a scope as reward. Some old leper centerfire scope works too, hate 3/4" rimfire scopes and rimfire tip off mounts.

I've got Henry mini bolt (synthetic stainless) and a Davey crickett (pink laminate blued) for my two they love them they both shoot great but won't buy them a scope till efficient at irons first

Besides, with the Liberals in for another term, you'll need the money you would have spent on a scope, to help pay for tax increases.
