My STEN project...

Has anyone managed to get one of these SAS stens working properly ?

The company that made the semi conversion kits has stopped making them.

From reports on US sites, the improved version with cylindrical hammer works well. The early version with bar hammer had problems, particularly with respect to the springs. Keep in mind that the US builders can use the original Mk. II magazine housings. This eliminates one set of possible problems. Production of the SAS system parts has changed hands; there is also another similar system being made. See w ww.indianapolisordnance.com. And no, he is not interested in export business.

So there are parts in the US that apparently work, but we can not get them shipped here. That's really good to know.

There has to be a better way than messin with closed bolts, what's wrong with an open bolt like they were made originally ? looks like the one in the vid on the previous page works well.

well 1st thing is the open bolt is NOT approved by the rcmp which would make it a prohibited weapon

the ONLY approved semi auto sten is the SAS if you make one with a different system then the sas you would have to submit it to the rcmp for testing

Open bolt would be great, if it were approved. But the simple minded Pratt that made that video has broken so many of the firearms laws and rules of this board that he has been banned. Even that video shows him firing a restricted (possibly prohibited) gun on his own property, a criminal code offense. Worse yet, the video illustrates that he cannot count to five.

My SAS3 ran like a champ before I sold it, I used the newer style cylindrical hammer.

Now in the process of attempting to get an open-bolt design approved. (fingers crossed).

It's a job to say where the video was takenn looks kike it could be at an indoor range do you know for sure the video was taken on his own property ? is that spencer in the video ?

Looks a lot like the same property that we always see the photos of him in. Indoor range? Not likely. There is no indoor range I have ever seen with that 1960s siding on the inside of the range. And if one views the video on full screen, the shooter's face looks exactly like the same banned fella in this photo, shooting restricted in his yard and posting photos of it on the net.

If you can't see the whole face in the video, then you can surely see the distinctive missing chin or the bad haircut.

By the way pob, your screename, isn't that from a British children's show where some puppet spits all over the screen and writes his name into it? Why did you pick that screename?

Apologies to Navy shooter for running amuck on his excellent thread about his (registered and legal) semi auto sten. Please feel free to edit any of this is it becomes too irrelevant.

It is the same guy, same glasses. Looks like an indoor range to me I see him posing for the pic with the russian gun, but not shooting.

Pob is the name of my parrot not a puppet, it took several attempts to get a name that was not taken it was not my first choice.

Going back to the SAS Semi-auto kit, In the US there have been a lot of issue with customers not been able to get their stens to work. The initial kits had design issues and where often poorly made. A change of ownership and a redesign of the bolt hammer ( by Musibike) seemed to resolve many issues. However a lot of builder are unhappy with the product. A copmany call Indianapolis Ordnance has also got into the semi-sten kit maket. Their product is very similar to the SAS kit, but seem to work very well, lots of good feedback. Take a look at their vid on : http://www.indianapolisordnance.com/videos.html

Many of your statements are libellous. Please be careful.

FYI The video was taken at Yorkton gun club. The gun is registered.

Welcome to Banville....population YOU.
Dumbass, if you are going to come back on the board, use am ID that is NOT similar to the one you were banned under, and don't take up previous conversations.....
Oh, and only chics & fags wear CROCS....and you don't look like a chic....

I would like to get back to Navy shooters thread about the SAS semi-sten build. The pros and cons of Spencers activities should be covered in a new thread, please.

NavyShooter thought that he might be able to get out to the range to test his new bolt today. Perhaps he will have a report later today.
Claven2's build was debugged, and worked well. There is another Cdn SAS II which has been discussed on another site. Have not yet heard reports about it being test fired. That makes at least 4 that have been registered.
NS obviously has the tools and skill to make a bolt and hammer. In the absence of Indianapolis Ordnance or Musibike's parts being available, or a Cdn machine shop tooling up to make the parts, an SAS is not an easy project.

Don't worry about the unrelated drivel that has been posted. NS can clean the thread up easily enough. He has done it before.

has anyone inquired if Musibike is willing to export?

thats the way to go bring in the parts

spencer untill you prove your open bolt sten was NOT registered as an SAS which is FRAUD and a criminal offence i seriously doubt stencollector has to worry about being libellous

you made it VERY clear you were NOT going to let the rcmp examine your open bolt sten

which in my opinion is noting more then a FULLAUTO that you welded the selector to semi which means in approx 30 seconds its fullauto again

I would not be surprised if the feds have not taken a GREAT intrest in you..... this site is watched and deleting your posts/pics only means they are not there know but the feds have copies you cant delete

may i ask how you manged to transport a prohibited weapon to the "range" they are not allowing sap's any more if it was restricted how did you get a ATT for a gun without a cert??

its easy to prove or disprove, who here is a member of Yorkton Gun Club? take some pics does the area where specers pics show even exist on the legal range?

*shrug*

Well, no time to hit the range today folks. Family in town from Moncton.

Tomorrow I have to head out to get some welding done on another project (watch for it....Off topics, it's not gun related.) but probably sometime this coming week I'll be able to get the time to head in.
