My STEN project...

3000 $ ! I don't think so. The real value is the knowledge gained, which is priceless.

I think alexD92 is referring to cutting up and altering a BD-3008 to create a Sten reproduction. That would make a very expensive Sten repro. And given that the RCMP consider the Sten magazine housing to be the receiver, the BD would just be a very, very expensive parts kit, that would need to have its very expensive bolt cut and welded. Even if cost were of no concern, a 3008 bolt, cut, rotated and welded would be a poor choice for a Sten clone. Sten feed and ejection is directly across the bolt, feed horns and extractor are 180 degrees opposed; 3008 is not. A 3008 ejects up and to the right.
Years ago, prior to the US 1980s freeze on new full auto manufacture for non-institutional use, Sten types with bottom feed were being legally assembled. This necessitates vertical ejection. IF, and WHEN a case ruptures - which does happen with Stens, particularly with some ammunition, the shooter is at risk of getting hit with case fragments. There is a reason that little plier type broken case remover was issued with Stens. This has been an issue with 9mm PPSh conversions.

The first clip, from Italy, is interesting. The 3008 has a wooden stock, which was one of the variants. I wonder if it is an original or a repro?

Necro post revival time!!!

Not that I've done anything with the gun lately, but hey, some folks were wondering about historical guns, so this one (in my opinion) sort of counts.

If you can't find one at a reasonable price, just ask and I'll be glad to send you all the info with drawings and pics if any, to help you. I know I have it somewhere. T stocks aren't hard to build.

I came to a halt with my own project as Quebec is SOOOOOOOO anti-gun. I guess the only alternative to building one would be to trade my parts kit and some cash for a complete, registered unbugged one from outside Quebec with preferably a 18½ inches long (unrestricted) barrel. THEN I could have to register it as a rifle here. Remember? I still am stuck with that long arms registry at least for the moment. And with her majesty Marois 1ère ruling, things may worsen before (if ever) they get better. And NO I can't move in another Province (the wife wouldn't want to follow and a 3rd divorce is out of the question). Lol!
