First, a long one piece rail:

And a red dot, this one for the moment since I have one laying around not being used:

Should be useful for anything that is unwanted in the yard. And for plinking.

I was planning something similar. I have a Canadian Tire Tasco red-dot site lying around. I don't know anything about mounts though. Are the pre-drilled holes on top of the 300F a standard size. What size rail do I need? I would like a short rail and mount it close to the fixed site.

Edited to add.

Ok I saw that rail is purpose built for the Stevens 300F. So do these rifles take the 0 MOA or the 20 MOA rail and what does that mean?

The 20moa rail is for people shooting their .22lr out past 200yards(so the internet says), allows for a zero further out with more elevation adjustment room. I figured the 0moa rail is what I need.

EGW makes rails for the mrk2 and the savage 93, along with other centerfire/rimfire rifles. One nice thing is that you can order from their website.
