Well , to much time on my hands and am a gun nut . Costly combo. But I just bought a 1941 m 38 that looks great can't wait to get it in my hands . What can you tell me that I should have known before purchasing ?.?
LOL I get giddy about these things but buyers remorse hasn't hit me yet . It's got the bent bolt and metal looks great , apparently #s match but a crown instead of a number on the floorplate , that's what I know so--

You did good. The M38 is one sweet rifle. You won't regret it. Back in 80's I bought a case of 10 for $65.00 each. They were all very good or excellent and they are great shooters.

Every 6.5x55mm Swedish Military rifle with a good bore or better will shoot very well, most will shoot better than most shooters are capable of.

Even the soft shooting, semi auto, Ljungman 6.5x55mm rifles are capable of excellent accuracy. They are perhaps the most accurate military semi auto of the 20th century!

 
Some were threaded some were not. Allen Lever had cases of mint guns at one time. I bought them just
because of the condition, same with the 42Bs.

The asking price on that was, I think speculative at best, but that seems to be the way the EE is going for the last few years.
There will always be sellers asking too much and buyers willing to pay more. If availability is low, then asking prices will go up.

The condition does seem way above average on this one so I didn't mind the price , it seems run of the mil gets $400-450 or am I wrong ? The bore disk does show it having some wear #2 on small triangle and no other marks . Does a guy find better and if you do can you count on the disk not being counterfeit ? This guy said he had it in his safe for 30 years . Wish I put my cash there instead of stocks LOL who would have thought ?

Don't know if the muzzle is threaded, it's covered if it is .

Thanks Martin , I thought that looked strange. I haven't received this one yet so it hadn't occurred to me that anything was wrong with that yet
 
I have 2 Husky's, an m38 1943 all matching and an m96 1944 sporter in a Boyd's stock.
Your stock disc shows some pitting (#2) and some wear and erosion. Ideally none of the numbers will be marked, but the higher the number, the more wear or rust/pitting.
Yours shows 6.52 throat erosion (6.55 was max) and a minimum bore dimension of 6.51.
It's nice but not outstanding, I hope you didn't pay too much for it.
You'll love it, they're great rifles!

Thank you , I'm still happy about the deal , I knew the disk showed some wear and didn't expect or require a prestine bore . In the past and probably current I have spent a hundred dollars (which I may have overpaid)on much less desirable items and I still would pay the same now that I know or I wouldn't have got it .Impulse is never free LOL I'm not immune to it yet but I'm MUCH better now . I'm confident that if it was good enough for the swede inspectors to reissue it will have more accuracy and longevity than I will be able to take advantage of ( with open sights anyway) and will be more than good enough for my purpose ( shooting a little and looking at a lot)

Well , I picked it up today , and the muzzel has the threads and protector , excellent shape as in pics , the only SMALL flaws are scratches where the sight hood was installed incorrectly. Now to try and match my handloads to the sights , this one isn't stamped with the T on the front sight . Anybody know the diff between the torpedo bullets and the soft point loads that were used ?

I have an ealier m38 that's in OK shape not as nice as yours OP.

The bore is slightly dark, disc shows some erosion but nothing major. I originally bought it to resell it but after I shot it I couldn't get rid of it.

It's my around the yard coyote/ woodchuck gun now and it absolutely drives nails with 120 grain sps and 3031 powder!
