My Tacticool SKS

Well have you shot it yet? Did the mag feed right? Did the bayo sticking out alter your grouping. Most duckbills are crap when it comes to performance. They look interesting but don't feed well IMHO. No bang=brain drain. I had an M44 that I shot with the bayo out. It sure made the old farts at the range giggle and a few came by with smart ass comments lol. In the end I took everything off my sks that I had put on her, even the bayo and cleaning rod, and surprisingly it shot better! Tacticool starts at ARs and goes up from there.YMMV

Bubba SKS with golden bayo... $300 for SKS + $300 in extra parts = $275 Bubba SKS :D

That says it all. No use trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. The design of the rifle and the caliber were for the purpose of the close in assault or urban warfare, not long range accuracy. The design of the rifle, when employed in the rapid fire mode, has an ever increasing barrel whip which steadily increase group size.

Personally I find the extended magazine a waste of time. I own a $169.00 chinese SKS for WW2 re-enactor matches, and for quick reloads I find that a modified 5rd stripper clip will allow me to get at least 20-25 rds down range per minute with a bit of practice. Try that with a 5/30 magazine.

I took my 10 rd stripper clips, load 5 expended casings then cut the clip, crimped the cut end then removed all burrs on my bench grinder. Then I painted the crimped end with orange paint. Since orange means up I can generally get 20-25 rds per minute down range during matches if required. This all depends on the type of mag pouches that you have and if you are willing to practice.

It took just over 2 months for my stuff to come too , I guess it takes about 2 to 4 days to reach canada then another 2 months sitting on a shelf to clear customs!!

sigh..... i wish i had known that BEFORE i placed my T6 order.....
NOTHING should take 2 months to ship..... its hard to beleive it will sit at customs [either side] for that period of time.

I just got back from the Saskatoon Jazz Fest. last weekend with a big ol crate of ammo :D I hope to be out there soon. Maybe even tonight!

As for the folks who don't like what I've done; I'm glad not everybody likes it. If everybody liked me I'd prolly think less of myself. lol.

But seriously folks, it's all bolt ons, it can all be taken off, and if I find it isn't working for me it will be put back to original.

Oh I know , its so lame!! I know that some place had tapco stocks up here but as far as I know they are not carrying them anymore ! Its almost easier to just go down there and get the stock!
Next time I order something form sks man I am just going to ask him to FedEx it and I will pay extra , its faster that way !

I am pretty sure you can still load an sks with stripper clips when a duckbill mag is in there!

Last night I went out to the range and put some lead down the chute, however due to a failure of the T6 stock (the threaded hole that the bolt holding the pistol grip screws into is all stripped out) I was unable to test the complete rig. :(

That being said I can tell you a bit about some of the parts:

The 40/5 Magazine: I put about 60 rounds through the SKS using the magazine and I had only one occasion where the bolt stayed back with a bullet still in the mag. I found it all but impossible to use stripper clips with the mag as the bullet would be a fraction to far back and not slide in correctly. If you had 2 or 3 of these it would be great, with one, not so much so. But it still looks cool! lol

Quad Rail: It is slightly raised so you can supposedly use the iron sights with it still attached. I found that I could use the iron sights still but it was a little harder. It's a good option to have if your scope ever gets damaged.

Bipod: Real nice! the only problem I had was forgetting to lock on of the legs down and wondering why it felt like I was listing to the left a bit. I figured it out and was off to the races!

Scope: I have never used a scope before. Now that I have that out of the way; I was unable to get the darn thing zeroed in. I had read the manual and thought I had it figured but apparently I was wrong. I'll be heading out again this weekend with some one who knows what they are doing on this front. That being said, it sure helped me see what I was aiming at even if I didnt hit it :p

I forgot the camera so no pics this time, but I hope to have the T6 stock sorted by this weekend for a proper report.

How did the the pistol grip hole get stripped? Did you tighten the screw way too much? My concern is, you have to remove the pistol grip in order to take out the trigger group, so I'm wondering if playing with that screw will eventually strip the thread.

I just finished putting my T6 furniture on, waiting for the scout scope mount to put the red dot on. Like you, I have no clue about sighting-in, so I'm trying to read up on it. I'm also scrambling to buy (build?) a bench rest & maybe get a laser bore sighter. Man, there's so much to buy & learn!

Dj_Squelch for the striped bolt. Fill the hole with beding compound (or if you don't have this use jb weld max strength slow cure) & apply grease to the bolt. Allow to cure reemove bolt and give it another day to dry then use red lock tight and this should be rock solid after wards. As for the zeroing issue with the scope. The x39 round has the same bullet point of impact @ 25 meters as @ 100 meters. So if you can zero @ 25 you should be good to go. IF your still stuck check out this program @ it will inform you more on what the X39 will do in your rifle;

How does it take away form the function , hmm lets think about it , bullets go into mag then into said rifle then into chamber then BOOM!!
Sounds like function to me. My mom once said if you dont have anything nice to say don't say it at all !
I am getting one of those mags for my sks , when the zombie invasion starts and i have a mag with some "potential" you won't think it is overkill then will you !

The same thing happens with the stock built in mag, but it doesn't stick out that ridiculously far for no reason.

I bet you a million dollars I will still think its overkill because when a "zombie invasion" starts I'm sure the only person aware of it will be you...sitting in your basement wearing a tin foil hat.

Well thats fine by me if you think its rediculous but when the zombie invasion starts and you are not around cause you only had your stock mag me and my tinfoil hat will be wasting zombies cause i have a big huge overkill mag!!!

pm me with the type of sight you bought and I'll explain to you how to do it......don't bother with a laser boresighter yet either.

where did you get the scout mount for the T6 and how much was it? also how much is a red dot?
The mount was ordered by my friend in the US directly from Scout Scopes for $59.85US. I believe Marstar has it for almost twice that much.

The red dot is a Bushnell Holosight. Got it on clearance sale from LeBaron for $250 - that's more than the price of the SKS, LOL, but still cheaper even than in the US. If I understand correctly, it is made by Eotech, and the only diff. is plastic body.
