My take on the Uberti 1873 Cattleman SAA

I didn't know that T&Co shipped parts to us. Just kind of assumed that they didn't.

I'm curious as to the fitting of a new cylinder and what it requires.

Yeah, I was surprise to find out that Taylor's shipped to Canada. Everyone (Numrich, VTI etc) all wanted $125+ for the cylinder. Taylor's was $105. and shipping by USPS. About 30mins after I placed the order, I got a confirmation email so my order is good to go. :)

From what I've read, the cylinders pretty much drop-in but the bushing needed to be sized to fit so that there is proper end-space on the cylinder. Some guys just used the same bushing from their existing cylinders.

Being a big western fan,I caved a few days ago and bought 2 Uberti Cattlemans. One in .357mag and the other in .45 Colt.Damn they looked good and felt good.Got them home and started cleaning them up getting ready for the range.Dry fired them a few times just to get a feel for them.Noticed one of the frame screws on the .357 was backing out. Also noticed that there were some scratches developing on the front face of the cylinder.Turns out the barrel/cylinder gap was too tight.Sending it back.
oh but wait......I'm not done yet !
The .45 Colt Cattleman, grip frame and trigger guard screws came loose and separated from the frame(remember, these haven't actually been fired yet).It almost looked like the grip frame had sprung.Ejector rod screw came loose.Loading gate started flopping around, would not close tight.Pull back the hammer to the first click, pull trigger, hammer drops.WTF ! Barrel/cylinder gap so tight you can't put a piece of 8X11" piece of printer paper through.WTF ! That one going back also.
Did a lot,I mean a lot of research before buying these guns.Never heard of anything worse than the odd screw coming loose.Hoping that the individual attention of the warranty guys fixes these problems and that I get these two guns back in the condition I expect them to be in.I'll know in about 2 to 3 months.
