The tan coloured mag is stock and unaltered for comparison.
The black mag has the mods done.

First is some small filing done to the back of the top lips to accommodate the loading of stripper clips.

Next, this is some more filing to the back of the mag's spine above the mag catch. This allows for more free clearance so the bolt hold releases when the mag is loaded with rounds.
Without this mod, the bolt hold stays "up" forcing the user to release the bolt hold manually after loading the rifle. Be cautious, only minimal filing is needed. The bolt hold is very light and small. So it moves easy without resistance, as designed.
I put a dab of oil behind the bolt hold too for added sliding ease.

Happy shooting!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that these small modifications are likely rifle specific. Some, maybe even most Tapco'd SKS' will not need this done.

But, if you encounter these hiccups with your SKS, or if you are planning on installing the Tapco system then this is just to show the easy fix.

if you want that your tapco support the stripper clip you must do that »»»»»»»»» if you dont do it the feed lips will crack

Yes however, the amount the guy in that thread shaved off his mag's lips was excessive.
Taking away that much material is not needed to be able to facilitate the use of stripper clips.

Nice I have the same problem with my 52. Put the mag in, very hard, and yes holds the bolt back. Can theses mags be taken apart for cleaning? All of my mags have a rubber bottom, covering the steel bottom plate. Is there a way to remove it with out braking it.

they can be. just make sure to replace the the pin back in or else you are in possession of a prohibited device. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngE6AkNNZRg

I had no problem out of the box slap it in push done.. worked fine for me :p

Only thing I did was sand the stock down to fit the magazine a little better then restained the stock and you can't tell I did it.

Fitting a Tapco mag into an original wood stock usually always requires some sanding of the stock to accommodate the mag. The Tapco stock typically doesn't need that sanding done. Instead, some filing of mag's is usually needed.

I didn't know this and thought I had a problem with the last round getting hung up. I'll stop trying without any mod. Don't want to break it, Thanks

@Zander77:

The rear of the feed lips need to have some material removed to allow the stripper clip to seat into the mag. You can either make a small square notch in the lips or radius them as per the pic in the OP. Use a small (jewelers) file or a dremel tool. For a better idea of what needs to be done, hold the original 10rnd fixed mag and a Tapco mag side by side and compare the profiles of the feed lips. It will be obvious what you need to do.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: never mind re-read your post....I answered a question you hadn't asked.
