I have recently tried out my Tavor and found out that nearly 90% of the times the bolt does not stay open after the last round. It only stayed open once in a while. I am currently using Winchester 55 GR. full metal jacket. What can be wrong and is it possible to fix it myself? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yup. It does stay open when I manually charge it on an empty mag. only not open after the last round.
You may want to switch to another brand of ammo as a test. 5.56 if you can. You may want to add a touch of grease to the rail slots in the bolt carrier, and some oil to the bolt.

The fact it locks back manually tells me the ammo may not have enough power to send the bolt/carrier back far enough to catch. The system is design for military ball ammo. Some of the civi stuff is a bit on the weak side.

Did anyone try 223 and having similar problem?
Where can I get 556 in Toronto? Most of the places I found only sell 223. Should I try some 223 with more GR instead?

If you've only shot it from a bench, there is another explanation. I've found that with using front and rear sandbags (especially) that the rear sandbag frequently impinges on the bolt release causing the last round NOT to hold the bolt open. Sometimes this happens without a rear bag as well if you use your free hand to rest the rear as well.

I experience the sandbag issue also. But as soon as I discover it may be the cause I stop using rear sandbag. But still the problem is still there.
