Hey folks,

I picked up a remy ti in .260 late last fall, and I finally received the parts that I wanted to change and just got it back together last Friday...Here are a few pics:

I swapped the stock out for a Mcmillan Hunters Edge with a 14 inch length of pull and a half inch decelerator pad. I then replaced the j-lock with a Gretan Lite Steel Firing Pin Assembly, which is very nice to say the least. I also converted it to a BDL configuration with a floorplate, mag box and follower etc that I picked up here on the EE. The trigger has been smoothed to a crisp 2.5 lb pull, it breaks like glass...Finally I topped it off with a leupy VXII 3-9x33 ultralight c/w a LR duplex in a set of Talley lightweight rings.

As it sits now, without the bipod (which was put on just for the pics;)), the rifle weighs in at 6.03 pounds, nice and feathery! It also fits nice with the increased LOP and points really well. Preliminary range work shows promise, I didn't have time to do up any handloads  so I purchased some Federal 120 grain ballistic tips and after a few rounds it settled in and the last three shot group I fired with it nestled in at 1.2 inches. With a little bit of load development hopefully it will group under an inch with some 130 TSX and accubonds!

I also took the time to weigh all the components that i replaced, here they are:

ADL Trigger Guard with 3rd action bolt: 1.77 oz (guard is made from metal alloy)
ADL Mag box with small screw: 2.01 oz
Grand total: 3.78 oz

BDL Floorplate: 1.88 oz
BDL Mag box: 1.61 oz
Grand total: 3.49 oz for a savings of 0.29 oz (not much I know but the floorplate is still lighter, which I found surprising)

Remy firing pin assembly: 4.01 oz
Gretan lite steel firing pin assembly: 1.97 oz
Weight savings of 2.04 oz

Remy Ti Stock (B&C I believe): 25.20 oz
Mcmillan Hunters Edge Stock: 23.15 oz
Weight savings of 2.05 oz

GRAND TOTAL of 4.38 oz saved by replacing the parts, not bad, especially when considering the increase in lop and bdl conversion.

Needless to say I can't wait to shoot something with it this fall!!

'rifle.

now that's VERY nice...shows what one can do with a bit of selective and intelligent parts swapping...I have a 7-08 Ti wearing the factory stock with BDL bottom metal and a 2.5-8X Leupy in Talleys...gotta love those original Ti's...

Well I've got mine together finally too and it is much like yours...

- Pierce Precision bolt shroud and firing pin with spring all CERA coated matte silver for added weather protection and slickness replaces the factory ISS shroud and TERRIBLE factory spring
- Stainless Steel ADL trigger guard milled out replaces the factory metal alloy guard
- Trigger dropped down to 1 3/4 pounds and crisp
- Tally 1" lightweight rings lapped
- Leupold VXII 3-9x40 LRD

This rifle also shows excellent accuracy potential although still under barrel break in mode. 129g Hornady SST's over RL19 in Rem cases produced a two shot group touching eachother @ 100 yards with a clean barrel shot inside of a 1 minute string. Fouling still more than expected.

Next week it's 130 AccuBonds down the tube! I know H1000 is not a great choice as the compressed load is getting very compressed. Likely RL19 as well will be the powder of choice or IMR 4350. The 130g Barnes TSX's didn't shoot worth a crap last weekend out of my BDL!

Make sure you remember me if you ever decide to sell it.

Martin..I'm afraid you are inline behind me..if Rembo sells it ..that will be my new 358 and that 7-08 barrel will be used to stake my tomatoes:)...besides it will match my 308 Ti

Bartell, how come yours weighs 5lbs 9oz, and Longrifles is 6.03 lbs? All parts are the same, .5" of stock can't weigh .5lb can it??

Does anyone know how much of a weight difference there is between the Ti action and the stainless sps action? Action only. I know the Ti bolt is fluted and the handle has been milled out.
I would like to build a similar light weight rifle but the price tag on the Ti is a bit high for me.
Figured I could go with a stainless sps, have the bolt and handle fluted and put on a light weight stock(mcmilian, wildcat, robertson, etc) and a 22'' pencil barrel. Probably replace the firing pin and bolt shroud as well.
It might not end up as light as a Ti action but just curious as to how close I could get it without the hefty price tag of a Ti donor action.

Get a Mountain LSS and put it in an edge stock, should be under 6lbs, sans scope, as from the factory it weighs 6.5.

The LSS is nice but comes in limited calibres. I'm still not sure as to what I want calibre wise. I dont need the lightest rifle in the world but I'd like something on the lighter side that shoots like a frickin' laser bean (as per Austin Powers). I was thinkin something like a 270wsm, 7mm rm, 280, etc.
Could always go with an SPS and have a smith wack off either 2'' or 4'' of a barrel to get it down to 22''. I guess the barrel contour is different between the LSS and the SPS.
Seems so much easier to just become rich and buy a Ti.
