Hey folks,
I picked up a remy ti in .260 late last fall, and I finally received the parts that I wanted to change and just got it back together last Friday...Here are a few pics:
I swapped the stock out for a Mcmillan Hunters Edge with a 14 inch length of pull and a half inch decelerator pad. I then replaced the j-lock with a Gretan Lite Steel Firing Pin Assembly, which is very nice to say the least. I also converted it to a BDL configuration with a floorplate, mag box and follower etc that I picked up here on the EE. The trigger has been smoothed to a crisp 2.5 lb pull, it breaks like glass...Finally I topped it off with a leupy VXII 3-9x33 ultralight c/w a LR duplex in a set of Talley lightweight rings.
As it sits now, without the bipod (which was put on just for the pics
), the rifle weighs in at 6.03 pounds, nice and feathery! It also fits nice with the increased LOP and points really well. Preliminary range work shows promise, I didn't have time to do up any handloads
so I purchased some Federal 120 grain ballistic tips and after a few rounds it settled in and the last three shot group I fired with it nestled in at 1.2 inches. With a little bit of load development hopefully it will group under an inch with some 130 TSX and accubonds!
I also took the time to weigh all the components that i replaced, here they are:
ADL Trigger Guard with 3rd action bolt: 1.77 oz (guard is made from metal alloy)
ADL Mag box with small screw: 2.01 oz
Grand total: 3.78 oz
BDL Floorplate: 1.88 oz
BDL Mag box: 1.61 oz
Grand total: 3.49 oz for a savings of 0.29 oz (not much I know but the floorplate is still lighter, which I found surprising)
Remy firing pin assembly: 4.01 oz
Gretan lite steel firing pin assembly: 1.97 oz
Weight savings of 2.04 oz
Remy Ti Stock (B&C I believe): 25.20 oz
Mcmillan Hunters Edge Stock: 23.15 oz
Weight savings of 2.05 oz
GRAND TOTAL of 4.38 oz saved by replacing the parts, not bad, especially when considering the increase in lop and bdl conversion.
Needless to say I can't wait to shoot something with it this fall!!
