Hey guys, I think I've finished working on my mk18 at this point. Only thing I may add is a set of kac micro sights. Figured I would share my new eye candy.

It's heavy as sin but it points and handles beautifully. So well that you don't notice the weight compared to a longer rifle. Got a ms4 sling on the way to try out with it. Looking forward to the next range trip with it.
 
Nice set up for sure.
Mine needs a SOPMOD stock, Geissele trigger and a new muzzle device... Thinking of adding a KX5 to mine, the concussion with the BCM comp is a little too much for my taste. Don't you find the rail gets hot pretty fast with just the ladder on tho?
 
Well weighed up my ar's and this one weighs in at 8lb 11oz dry. It's only 13oz heavier than my 16" that I run with just a aimpoint comp ml3 on and has a moe stock and handguards. My 20" colt hbar with mi freefloat rail is 10lb4oz with the elcan on it.

As for heat I have not had any issues with this or my other rifle that I had a ris II rail over a 14.5" I also always shoot wearing gloves. It's gotten hot but not bad enough it was unbearable
 
Nicely done.

I was/am on the fence on which brake/comp to use on my Mk18 build. After seeing yours, think I've eliminated tye KX 3/5 off my short list though. Just not the "look" i'm after.
 
I haven't had a chance to shoot it since the kx3 and trigger arrived last week. Might be getting up to the club this coming week.
As for the magnifier I'll prob end up swapping it over to my 16" gun. Hopefully it clears the matech rear sight.

As for the ditching the grip I don't see the need to do that personally. I like it's configuration more than the standard A2 or a moe grip. Only one I would consider is a ergo enhanced grip. I got one on another lower and like it.
 
Yeah, seemed like I found another excuse to spend money. I would like to make it as close as possible to a mk18 mod 1as much as possible so the optics will get swapped out, couple other parts as well possibly

I'm not a big fan....personally, I think you should go tan or black, but not indiscriminately mix both.

If you like the tan, do the grip, vert grip and stock as well....it'd look pretty slick then.
