My Tula 55/56

Seems like a pretty decent SKS. It is a great time of year to do some military surplus shooting, there is just something about shooting Russian guns in the snow. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Nice! You really know how to take photos up close. I have never seen a Russian SKS with that kind of butt stock serial number stamping.
Is it possible that stock came from another country?

So, here's one of my Russian examples. It is a light refurbished 55/56 Tula laminate. It was unissued and unfired (well, very few rounds) when I got it. It is one of weimajack's rifles.

Nice clean, almost unmarked action.

Very clean, almost unmarked bolt face.

The prominent butt stock serial stamping. Pretty good wood on this one. Although there are a few "crate handling marks".

This example is a really good shooter. Consistently hitting 8 inch steel at 105 yards. The barrel is very nice with no frosting or pitting. The lands are nice and deep. I only shoot non-corrosive lead core copper jacketed ammo in all my SKS's.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures.
Nice,, would likely have the Chrome barrel too!

First one I've seen that has the "letter" stamped in the stock as well as the receiver. But I haven't seen them all. Not questioning authenticity, just haven't seen that before.

Both of my blued bayo lettered sks, 56/57/58 have the letter on the stock too, same nice stamping on the stock but for sure is refurb, if you look across the stock where the serial # is you can see a small indeed where about 4-5 inches was sanded nicely and refinished! The difference is quite noticeable when I hold my unrefurbed stock next to it, the op's sks may have been refurbed at the same armoury as mine, they seemed to use the same methods except the black bayo!
