My Type 81 influenced SKS project

Since everyone is posting their custom SKS projects recently, I've decided to finally share mine.

So I got hold of an old air rifle and noticed that I could possibly incorporate it's stock into my SKS. I got tired of waiting for the type 81 to come in, so I guess this was inspiration... Also because the SKS is more closer to the type 81 than it is an AK which is why I chose to go in this direction. This project actually came after completing a SKS underfolder stock which I wasn't 100% satisfied with it, so I cut it up to use in this project. Which was risky...If I failed, then I would have been left with 2 useless stocks

Sadly, I didn't take any pictures during its transformation :(

So after some tinkering on and off and some adjustments later...

So far I've put close to 400 rounds with the stock on, and it holds up just fine! I added some padding to the skeleton stock because I noticed that it rattled my cheek a bit when shooting it. I've noticed overall that it's actually way lighter than a stock SKS!

Now it's not completely finished, there are some nuts and bolts that needs to be replaced with some nicer ones, wood needs to be re-stained, and some other nick-picky things before I would consider it complete. Unfortunately, the whole project is kinda abandoned ever since I bought a CSA 3 months ago. It's been a safe queen ever since. I will probably sell it off to someone who wants to tinker with it in. Anyways, just wanted to share my creation with you guys! Hope you like it.

Man, I really like that! I've been meaning to toy with one of my extra SKS rifles (I've got too many...) to do something like this. My wrists are pretty buggered up from nerve damage, so a pistol grip is pretty much a must for shooting, and those tacticool tapco stocks look like garbage.

This seems to fit the bill though!

What kind of work was involved in doing this? I might just have to keep my eyes open for one of those airguns you mentioned.

Lots of cutting was involved to make the stock match the sks receiver. Mag well and parts of the stock had to be cut out for the trigger group to go in. The Lower hand guard had to be connected to the stock in such a way that it does not interfere with the mag well. Thats all the main challenges that I had to go through.

how did you afix the pistol gripis it screwed to the rear of the trigger group or is it to the wood a pic would help thx

I had to drill out the rear of the trigger group and connected it via nut and bolt at an angle.

I followed a youtube video on a guy that made a guide on how to do it, for some reason he took it down...
Here are some videos on others following his guide:

How did you attach the underfolder? I have the same underfolder sitting around but I have no idea how to put it on a wood stock

It was just held on with a huge bolt that went through the wood stock, I just had the under folder itself without any of the locking mechanisms or trunnion, so I had to improvise. I added some aluminum plates on both sides to give it more strength and it acted kinda like a trunnion.
