Since everyone is posting their custom SKS projects recently, I've decided to finally share mine.
So I got hold of an old air rifle and noticed that I could possibly incorporate it's stock into my SKS. I got tired of waiting for the type 81 to come in, so I guess this was inspiration...
Also because the SKS is more closer to the type 81 than it is an AK which is why I chose to go in this direction. This project actually came after completing a SKS underfolder stock which I wasn't 100% satisfied with it, so I cut it up to use in this project. Which was risky...If I failed, then I would have been left with 2 useless stocks
Sadly, I didn't take any pictures during its transformation
So after some tinkering on and off and some adjustments later...
Folded:
So far I've put close to 400 rounds with the stock on, and it holds up just fine! I added some padding to the skeleton stock because I noticed that it rattled my cheek a bit when shooting it. I've noticed overall that it's actually way lighter than a stock SKS!
Now it's not completely finished, there are some nuts and bolts that needs to be replaced with some nicer ones, wood needs to be re-stained, and some other nick-picky things before I would consider it complete. Unfortunately, the whole project is kinda abandoned ever since I bought a CSA 3 months ago. It's been a safe queen ever since. I will probably sell it off to someone who wants to tinker with it in. Anyways, just wanted to share my creation with you guys! Hope you like it.
