My unloved polymer's

I'm sure this ain't new, and I've got a few Glocks that I truly
enjoy shooting...... but at the end of the day I just don't feel the love
for my "Tuppers" as I do for my steel's when I put them side by side. I'm not talking
about steel beauties like Pythons and custom 1911's either. Seems that even ordinary metal
guns are more appealing to me than even the HK's and other high end polymer's. I'm talking
looks and "Feel in the hand". I should mention that my G26 has out grouped many of my classic
all steel guns. You get the gist.
 
Yup. Feel the same way. If i had to take one gun with me, it'd be my m&p, but I don't love it the way I love my 1911's, revolvers etc.
 
I feel like my steel pistols were forged by people. I feel like the polymers were poured into a mold. Not logical, and doesn't diminish the quality of the polymers, but I don't feel like they have "souls" for lack of a better way of putting it. Too perfect maybe?
 
Generally i agree, but i have 2 exceptions.

I picked up a used 1st gen P99 40 at wolverines for $400. I don't know why but this is one of my favourites. Love the feel and design. A little snappy to shoot but very accurate. (better since i added a springco recoil system).

The other is the VP70. I finally bought one (in fact haven't taken possession yet). It is one of my all time favourites. I haven't shot one (and i know it won't be pretty, heavy trigger etc), but I bought it as a collector because of its unique heritage and hey it is the first polymer.

Don't be ashamed....never found the Tupperware pistols that pretty...but dammmmm they do shoot good.
 
I kind of feel the same. I know in my head that the polymers are very good guns but they just don't have the attraction for me the way a steel gun does.
 
Yup...... Glocks are ugly & have no romance about them.

Of all the pistols I own, my 2nd Gen G22 would still be my "go to" in a SHTF scenario.

'Cause after having fired thousands of rounds thru 'em, I've found Glocks just 'work'.

Glock's are like the ugly chick you dated in High School after you dropped your real girlfriend off @ home early on a Friday night because she had a curfew.....they'll do whatever you want even though you treat them like a tramp.....
 
I'm a true aficionado of Glock Pistols. Make no mistake I have great respect for 'steel' pistols such as Browning's Hi-Power pistols which I use to own. I had to give them up because it became harder and harder for me to field strip them. Having arthritis in my hands makes it very very difficult to compress the recoil spring when putting it back together. Glocks, on the other hand, are a piece of cake to strip down to the last screw (front sight) and put back together.
 
The M9 family are all steel and they take down pretty effortlessly. I hope someday to own a 1911, (probably a cheap one) but I don't relish the idea of field stripping it, looks overly complicated and I've been spoiled so far.

I've been thinking of getting my own tupper, and my first choice has bounced around a lot. Walther P99? PPQ? M&P9? etc.

I think I've landed on the one I want though. The Strike One looks funny, but I got to hold one and got the whole spiel from the Russian guy behind the counter at the gun show in Calgary. I want one pretty badly now.
 
this thread has hit the nail right on the head for something that i have felt for a long while.
love shooting my poly guns and i would go to any of them first if anything ever went sideways BUT i just love my metal guns.
be it my 1911's or a revolver i just like the feel and warmth of the metal.

sometimes you just get that urge to disassemble a gun and work the action and practice the trigger and when those moods take me out come the metal guns, never the poly.

i like what was said above, plastic is work and metal is pleasure.
