My very first KA-BOOM

Thanks guys ,

ill keep everyone in the loop as to what Vault, Kel Tec and the board sponsor who i bought it from (which will remain nameless for now) say in the next couple of days.

Let me just say, make sure all you guys wear you safety glasses. Play safe, home safe!!!!!!!!!!

Glad only the gun got dinged and not you.

Best thing to do is nothing. Leave it as is so that Keltec can get a good look at it.

Email the pics to the dealer/distributor who sold it to you and ask them what the procedure is for returning the gun for service.

and buy a 6-49, you never know

who the heck makes barrels (even .22) out of pot metal!?

I had a well known (trying to think of the model) auto 22 rifle that had a bad habit of doubling. Ended up splitting the bbl. 10" split starting at the muzzle and moving toward the breach. The exposed metal looked just like the OPs post, porous. The gun looked well made and felt solid.

Were it me bfiles, I'd leave it where it is. But before sending it off for warrantee, won't hurt to measure the length of the obstruction as vs. the length of a single bullet. CYA, if they try to say there were two in there, and there isn't.

Glad your OK. Just used one of your nine lives, so ya did!.

Atcually i did do that and it seems only one was in there butt who knows if the extra bullet just mashed right into the squib deep or not

This was WMR right?
That Barrel looks like a POS.

WMR has way more boom than LR guys.

Good luck with the warranty process.
Please post about your results.
Glad you're not hurt.

Damn, dont know what to say to that.

With the round still stuck in the barrel ... this has to be some kind of manufacturing problem. It would have to take a lot of friction to stop that bullet from coming out of the barrel. The only other situation that could cause the bullet to stop like that is no powder in the case or something stuck in the barrel. Obviously neither seem the case being that the gun blew apart and you only fired 6 shots at the range and something getting in there seems highly unlikely ... specially while you were shooting it.

Really interested to hear if you find a definitive cause of the problem.

Read to many failures about the PMR's which is a shame cause I really want one, glad your ok! Sucks about the pistol though...

Those were suppose to be the old fluted barrel versions tho, guess that isnt the case. Too bad too cuz it is a wicked pistol, crisp, light trigger pull and the sights a very easy to pick up. Then again it did blow up on me,

I want to hammer out the bullet and see but i just dont want Vault saying "well now we cant warranty it cuz you took the bullet out or some BS"
I have never had this happen so dont know what to do.

I agree, don't do anything to that gun at all. Last thing you want to do is tamper with it and run the risk of them complaining about you altering the "evidence" as it were. I would definitely suggest getting out some calipers, ruler, and camera and measure everything you can think of. Photograph everything, up close, from every angle. If it's a digital camera there is no worries if you take 300 pictures, you can always delete them later. I think you will want to verify every possible measurement so if they do come back with some sort of BS excuse that this is your fault you can at least see if it jives with your measurements. As someone posted, try and get a depth measurement inside the barrel from the front and rear to see if you can get a handle if it is one bullet, or two, stuck in the barrel.

Potentially CCI might be to blame if they botched a round, but I would say it is likely the gun.

Glad you are ok, they make guns every day, eyes are tricky to replace!

Ps: You know you really love guns, when you can fondly remember all the nice things about a gun, and end the paragraph with "then again, it did blow up on me..." lol.

First of all, glad you're okay.

Second, aside from the fact that the metal looks poor quality, it's also way to thin IMO. Think of your basic Ruger Mark series pistol, there's way more meat around the chamber. I think this design was pushing the limits, but I'm admittedly not an engineer.
