Well, she's a winner.
I just graduated, so as a present to myself I went to the gravel pit with some (very expensive) ammunition types and was determined to get a good zero.
After trying the Sellier and Bellot some more, and getting increasingly annoyed, I tried some 55gr SP Federals.
Aha!
1/2" groups at 100 yards, 4" to the left and 8" down. I zeroed at 200 yards.
Then I took a target out to ~325 yards. I was pulling 1-2" groups consistently with about 15-20km/winds. I owe the amazing windage compensation to my iPod's ballistic calculator, iSnipe. I owe the range estimation to my scope. It has indicators on the focusing, so when I hit 200 yards, I saw something that was perfectly in focus, and then put the zeroing target there. It might not be exactly on, but it sure worked
Just before I packed up, I decided that as an ultimate challenge (well, a challenge for a inexperienced newbie like me, anyways.

) I would shoot a golf ball with no windage readings other than the trees and some tosses of dry sand in the air. I gave myself 2 shots to get it right.
Well, here is the result. The first shot spun the ball around, because I was too far to the right, and the next was a tad high.
This last one was a target I shot just for kicks and to see what this rifle/scope could really do. I was so excited at the time, that the first shot was a bad one.

The golf ball is there for size comparison.
I do apologize for my hand in the pictures. The golf ball didn't want to sit at the right angle

I didn't take pictures of my zeroing target because I didn't have my camera with me, and I didn't want to bring a rusty old propane tank home.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with my results. Next, I'm going to get a reloading kit, and see if I can't get this thing to 1/4" at 100 yards with handloads.
Also on my list is a bi-pod, and shooting mat. I was using my jacket and my ammunition box as a rest, while laying in the sand... I'm also going to get rid of the boring black and Duracoat it a digital camo pattern, like the CF uniform colours.
