Wheelgun:D

Finally had my S&W 629-1 44 Mag show at at my place. Been waiting a while for my first revolver to arrive and I am a happy camper! Its a huge pistol for the 3" barrel length but sit very nice in the hand if I dont try get high up on the grips. A very nice trigger too:eek: Will be out this weekend to try it and I hope to be able to hit at a fair distance with this after watching videos of a good shooter doing 200+ yards shots with a 4". I will start a lot closer than that;) Picks of a first time wheelgun for me...

Hi IDMX,

That's a real beauty!!! I've owned one of these, and they're actually surprisingly comfortable to shoot. You are going to have FUN!!! Congratulations.

Jeff.

The show that would make shooting reloads of H110 or 2400 would be well worth seeing.... :D Congrats on the new toy.

Obviously getting something like this as your first wheelgun you're not the sort to quibble around with mamby pamby every day stuff.... :D

I can group 2-3" @ 25 yds with a 5" 1911 or 4"+ revolver. But I can't hit the side of a barn with anything snubbed.

My 36 & 60 both embarrass me in public. I do slightly better with my 66, probably because of the decent sights and amazing trigger job. But in general, I can't make groups much better than 2-3" at 10-15 yards.

I'm dying to see your groups at 50 yrds. Please post back with results..

Thanks everyone. The whole idea behind this baby was to have a Big fun boomer! I hope it will be a mittful with the full house loads. Wanted a magnum for a while and the 3" barrel will just add to the fun. I never had a problem with the fun sized Magnums at the range so I am looking forward to getting this out on the weekend. Peter- I do very well with the compact stuff so I am going to try this on plates out to a 100 yards to start. Will let you know how that goes:D

I hope it will be a mittful with the full house loads.

It'll be fun for sure :)

Not to sure if you reload but H110 has been mentioned, awesome boom/flame.

If not, pick-up some Remington 180gr 44MAG ammo. The range officer usually comes over to check what I'm running. It's a hoot with a great sound and light show.

Looking forward to the range report.

Was out on the weekend with a box of REM 180gr stuff and my first try with the revolver was at 10 steel plates from 50-100yards during the Winter Comp. Took 18 rounds to knock down 10 steel plates:redface: but for a first time trying it I think that was allowed. No one wanted to be right next to me when this snubby was going off:D I like it! Just not sure of the grips, may try find some without the finger groves for a better fit. Sure is a handfull but thats why I like it so much. Going to have to try it a few more times at a good distance:cool:

The pic with the 629 and the derringer really ought to be an anti firearms act poster, "Which of these guns is prohibited because it might be too easy to conceal?"
A) The bottom one, it's tiny -
B) The bottom one, it's tiny -
C) They both are because some idiot thought barrel length was the only defining issue
