Picked this up on the weekend. Always wanted something in x39 that was not an SKS. It's in good to vg condition. Cool little gun I must say. The gas system is different. Took me a while to figure out what I was looking at :D It came with three mags :dancingbanana: One what Im going to call good one and two that have a delightful pin job. I guess bubba n' fudd decided they were a good project to learn how to pin mags and tig weld. Going to have to clean them up a smidge  What's the going rate on a VZ52/57 these days? Just to compare what I paid for it.

Decent looking refurb. Is there a date stamped in the sling notch? Without a sling or cleaning kit,I'd say the value would be in the $400-450 range. If the mags were done correctly they'd be worth around $75 each.

Woodbeef, I was under the impression that the 52/57 rifles were purpose built as 7.62x39 rifles. Not refurbed to the calibre.
I may easily have missed something in the picture but what makes you think it's a refurb? Black paint on barrel cover, bolt and receiver cover?

First time i TIG welded i atleast had a nice bead. That looks like blindfolded bubba and not enough argon ...

Oh and he was too cheap to use filler rod, so he just destroyed the surrounding metal...

Check your rifle's serial numbers. When first built, the number is stamped on the receiver, bolt, bolt carrier, piston extension, handguard, and stock. when refurbed, the handguard is usually mismatched and the bolt/carrier/piston numbers absent. Stock usually matches to the rifle.

Woodbeef, if you can find me some VZ's for $400.00-$450.00 in 7.62X39, I'll pay you for a confirmed buy at that price. :) My last VZ was $650.00 and they are selling on EE with black Bubba'ed stocks for $700.00. I wouldn't mind getting 2 more.

Yes it a refurb. Then only missmatched part is the handguard. It is stamped OTK 297 in the sling notch. Any idea what that means. Only thing left from the cleaning kit is the scraper tool.

You don't want to know what I paid then :D

Thanks for the help guys!

P.S.
Thanks to the mod who moved this. Thought it was in red rifles. (Too many tabs open on my end I guess. My bad)

So are most of the ones in the country in x39? I know i have seen one at least in the EE in x45 thats what it was, thanks.

VZ 52 are czec chambering 7.62 x45

vz52/57 (1957 when they were pulled into the warsa packs) are russian 7.62 x 39

most of the ones here ahould be the x39

BTW anyone who had a VZ52 in 7.62x45 drop me a PM if you want some ammo. I bought it before the gunshop had the rifle in and did not know it was x39.

Anyone have an idea what my refurb date is?

Just one question for you, How do you know the welding process used by Bubba? You are the infamous bubba, aren't you?:D

I want one of these rifles now!

I make a living welding  You know what the worst part is. I found out that this guy a had 6 more mags for it. When the 5rd mag restrictions came into effect he could not be bothered to pin er butcher em all. Did two and smashed the other six up with a hammer :jerkit:
