My Weatherby Mark V Hunter Thread

Talley 1 piece ring & base mounts work fine on my new Mark V. Lightweight. Minor issue sling studs a bit loose these screw into brass inserts can't just tighten my solution applied Loctite 242. See how it goes in the field.

Another thing you could use is Teflon tape, I’m a mechanic and use teflon tape when the threaded side is likely to come loose and can’t handle torque to keep it tight. And you can also loosen it again easier than loctite.

You will be much happier with the Leupold. Vortex glass is okay and I’ve always had good luck with them holding zero. Warranty is awesome (same as leupolds). But there is no question that Leupolds glass is superior. I have a couple vortex viper (3-9x40 and 4-16x50). I prefer the glass on the Leupold freedom (entry level) over my vipers (not entry level vortex).

As for rings. I would ditch those rings and that rail all together. Get yourself a set of talley lightweight lows. They worked perfect on my mark V with my 4-16x50 viper(30mm tube)

Update 22/06/23

Leupold VX-3I 3.5-10x50 has arrived! I measured the ring height with dimes and calipers. I’ll have to go with the high Talley mounts. Mediums would contacted on the objective. Love the size of the Leupold and it’s very light. Excited to receive the rings to mount and finally try this rifle out.
So how did everything work out and how has the rifle and scope been treating you and how was your hunting season?

I’m late to the party but I’ve got a very similar setup with a Mark V Hunter and a Leopoldo VX-3i 3.5-10x40 CDS in Talley low rings. Mine is chambered in 6.5CM and its been a great rifle.
