my well used Antique Sharps (pics)

Well got myself a project Sharps that was picked up from some battlefeilds in the southern USA most likely.
I find it intresting the gun will restore into a great shooter once again because sharps case hardened dam near everything.
Looking at the lower pics you can see that the Butt stock was used to dig maby a foxhole maby a grave.
I was the frist one to turn the screws on the old gun in a very long time, they all turned to .
its in ex condition the locks parts are all in great shape.
The Block is good as it the fireing pin piece.
Man them fireing pin part is some piece of machineing.
I guess being as Sharps case hardened everything nearly its lasted the times.
It needs a few new parts tho.
I need a butt stock already have a new Forend.
Its barrel reads model 1859 all the marking are there still its a 50 70 conversion gun.

I want one i can knock around in the bush without worrys of scratching it.

Here in the frist picture you can see its pretty rough.

Look Up at that butt stock its been used to dig in sand or something.........^^^^^

the lock turned out pretty nice. i should be able to shoot this gun again, one day.

Well its gona be more practical for me to use than that restored one i have.
The bore is Scary looking i think i seen tiny eyes reflecting back from my bore light LOL its been Relined back when they changed it to 50 70 its the 6 thin line type rifleing not the 3 wide flat type.
might have to sweat out that lineing and put in a new one. to early to say yet.
The ser # on the Tang is just a number no C like on my other gun.
Dont know what that meens.
This gun has all them little parts that let the old Primer tape feed system for the Percussion from the past still all on it and looks to be in good shape still.

I think this gun is a true old war horse.
the internal locks parts and trigger are very nice shape.
the block is a nice tight fit still.
I love theses old sharps. Im not into old rifles that much but after pulling this gun compleatly apart im amazed at how well there made the fit of that fireing pin part just blew me away. its right back to working like new again after sitting frozen to the block for who knows over 100 years.
Im very impressed.

Well this ones just gona be a Polished steel finish orignal looking im not blueing it to much i want it to keep its rugged good looks
I want to be able to scramble thru the underbrush thru swamps ect without worry about it. Im gona sell that other pretty restored sharps 50 70 i have.

As to how i got it i got it like i get everything i have.... Lotsa searching on the world wide web
