my wife asked me why at my age do i hunt alone??, so my question is why do others hun

For me,it's just too difficult to get together with hunting buddies at the same time. I'm retired, but, they're still working,so,I hunt and fish solo out of necessity.. The beauty of it is I can go where I want, when I want and have either the whole woods or lake to myself. It's peaceful, quiet and I have nobody to answer to,but,I still miss the guys. When we manage to get together, especially with the kids,it's a special occasion.

This is a great thread! The OP what an awesome post!!

Not nearly as experienced as many of you, but I have 2 friends I don’t mind hunting with. Agree that 2 people make 4xthe noise in the bush...and yes if they didn’t share gas cost or food etc we wouldn’t hunt again.

I don’t mind being alone, and enjoy the fresh air and no cell phone, it’s very therapeutic for me.

I mostly hunt alone but appreciate company if I get a big buck on the ground. I look forward to my annual large group deer hunt with hounds but my time alone in the bush is what I like best.

I hunt alone a lot as well. Have shot a lot of animals when I was hunting solo.
That being said, I have 3 individuals that I will hunt with when their time off
coincides with mine. They are careful, generous, and just a pleasure to be with.
They carry their share of the load, and do not disappear when work needs doing.
One is a young man, the others are old farts like me. D.

That sounds ideal, this year I've been out with a good buddy and his girlfriend. I was a nice couple days, we all get along well and share any work well. Just got out with my wife for her first doe, so hopefully she will be more into hunting next year. Would love to hunt more with my wife, we always have fun and enjoy it when we're out in the woods. Got a good buddy out of town that just got his CORE taken care of and he's keen to go out, plus some other prospects through CGN. Would be nice to hunt with other like minded people when timing is right to go along with all the solo trips.

I don't mind hunting with a few of my buddies, but not all the time. I like going it alone most often just to be out there and enjoy the bush/solitude not caring if I get my prey or not.
The times I really enjoyed hunting with others was with the kids and the excitement of getting their first deer. PRICELESS.

Well; my Maternal Grandfather managed to shoot himself IN THE FACE...with a 22.
My father managed to shoot himself with a 22...through the right leg, the thread on his Wranglers turned the bullet ( Doctor said this and the trajectory backs it up...magic bullet) and punched into his stomach, punctured his diaphragm & stopped just short of his heart. They actually lost him and had to perform CPR to bring him back, right there on the gurney.
I'm not fond of being around folk I know casually with guns...don't want to prove ( PROVE...get it, lol?) that bad things come in 3's, lol
I hunt alone for the most part

Went out yesterday and even this mourn'n by meself.
Came ftf with a loaded lawgg'in truck.
Saw a kupple grouse playing feathers with one nudder.
Figured they weren't disterb'in anyone so let them be.
Fun tuh wartch'im frawlicking about.

I don't hunt, but will soon enough. I do adv motorcycle rides alone for the same reason as the op. I stop when i want to stop, and can get my thoughts straight in my head when I'm alone.

I enjoy hunting alone....I think I'm a better hunter when I'm by myself. ...seems I get a lot more game that way.
No distractions and the hunt gets your full attention.
That being said, I do also enjoy hunting with my son.

I've come to enjoy hunting alone. Nobody to justify what/why you are going there or doing that for, to. I have made a newer occasional hunting partner tho... same mentality as me so it's starting off good.

I'm extremely selective on who I will hunt/fish with. As such, I do these things alone most of the time. It's important to me that potential hunting/fishing partners have a similar amount of dedication/passion for heading out. If I have to drag someone out of bed or motivate them in anyway, I'd just as soon go on my own.

The biggest issue with hunting alone is, when you shoot something an extra set of hands to carry it out is very nice thing to have. I have learned this the hard way the farther from the road the smaller the animal.
