Under the tree this morning lies a new Dillon 550B, a scale, case trimmer and a strong mount as well a .223 caliber conversion kit and dies. So besides a manual and components , what else do I need to start reloading? So yes if you haven't guessed it I have never reloaded before

just dont play with the press after drinking;)and always remember that;)
oh ya........ dont be shy on asking for any info you need on reloading..

My first thing TO DO suggestion for newbie reloader is always..... Start reading the manual from the very beginning and NEVER jump straight reloading your first round. You read the manual first and learn all about the things to know about reloading. By reading the manual you will know what else you will need to start reloading. Heck, if you do your homework you will not need to ask the question what else you need to start reloading on here. The manual will tell you what you need. :)

Congratulations for having a great wife.... and congratulations on your new reloader.... you will enjoy that blue press.

You've got a great wife,great machine and a great caliber to load.
You're going to need some reloading books,small rifle primers,
powder and some bullets.
I use H335 powder through my Dillon for loading .223.
It meters well, and under a 69gr Sierra MatchkingHPBT
it is the cat's ass.
Some case prep tools would be a good idea..
You'll also need a way to clean the brass.
The list could go on,but you're well on your way.

MIne got me the case feeder for my Dillon 550B. Awsome. Will make me load my rifle using my RCBS press but that is OK as the Dillon Case Feeder for the 550 is designed only for pistol. Should be a work around if I work at it.

Tiwaz, HIgginson powder sells a wunchester surplus powder dirt cheap that works great in the .223. A little faster than H335 but works just fine.

congrats on the christmas gift. make sure to tell your loved one that the manuals says it is better to have a second person and an extra set of hands to do proper reloading. see if you can pawn off the work, and get her to help clean your guns, just kidding, she might even enjoy it and go shooting if you hasn't done so as a couple

on the other hand, maybe she got you the gift as a quiet and nice gesture that you should be spending more time at home even if it is reloading.

as a lawyer who does family law, i think many marriages could have been saved with the couple having many quiet evenings together at home, possibly a bucket of fried chicken, and a dvd, or better, 2 for 1 new releases. (or reloading, but never in anger)

Congrats on the 550 casefeeder. I love mine. If you go to the Brian Enos forum & drill down through 'reloading' to the Dillon subsection, there are some good tips for setting up/tweaking/troubleshooting the casefeeder.
 
If your set up didn't already come with them:

- Primer flip tray
- Primer pick-up tubes

In addition you'll need the obvious stuff like:

- good sturdy work bench
- Loading manuals (I gravitate to the bullet manufacturer's ones)
- components as you mentioned

Additional stuff that will make life easier:

- Case gauge (s)
- Lee factory crimp die (if you want to crimp)
- Good quality calipers (Starrett is a good example)
- Small long handled brush to clean the shell plate on ocasion
- Dillon bullet tray add-on
- Dillon roller handle
- A fellow shooter that has experience with the Dillon or just reloading in general will be a wealth of knowledge.

Since you are loading necked rifle round, a case trimmer is a must. Lube and lube pad for the sizer die. Add the case tumbler as well. :)

For a case tumbler I'd recommend the Hornady M2 - One's been serving me well.
I'd skip the lube pad and go with a spray on with an old cookie sheet.
 
She also gave me a RCBS trim pro so I have that covered, now I need to clear a space in the garage and build a work bench. As I already have a good set of dail calipers I look around for a flip tray (the presscame with pick up tubes) and a lube pad.
