My wingmaster VS Canam Grizzly 12.5"

I'll argue that one with you. I have used mine for bunnies, and maybe its all the steak I eat, but it doesnt feel that heavy to me. Additionally the shortness means less overhand and less leverage than the extra 16inch that hangs past the end of the mag tube.

i wasnt commenting on the shortness or effectiveness, i was pointing out the fact that it weighs as much as a full length barrel.
if you are carrying something in the bush all day long, a significantly lighter weight trumps having a barrel thats 3x as thick. i dont think that extra durability would ever come into play outside of a battlefield or LEO applications.

As for your chamber, its no where near as tidy as mine
whats confusing about it? the barrel has DLASK written down the side, and thats the pic of the chamber.

you also have to grind down your forend to fit the oversize barrel, as well as grind accessories like sling plates to fit it. the unconventional front sight means that aftermarket ghost rings such as the popular Wilson Combat/Scattergun Tech ones require gunsmithing on the front sight blade as well. and, as has been mentioned you can buy an entire grizzly with a 12.5" barrel for the price of just the Dlask barrel.

im not bashing the Dlask barrel - as you can see i own one myself - the only point i am trying to make is that the Dlask option isnt the universally better option that many people make it out to be. there are upsides and downsides to both.

As I displayed in my previous post, an additional option to the 12'' dlask barrel IS the Grizzly barrel mounted on an actual Remington 870 receiver. This route requires essentially the purchase of two shotguns and the selling of the extra receiver, but overall cost is comparable to purchasing JUST the dlask barrel and Remington receiver.

I was one who carried a DA Grizzly everyday for work in the bush, it spent tons of time wet and even more dirty. I often tried firing it in both of these states and never had an issue. Having said that, I still jumped at the chance to upgrade to the real remington, but chose to keep both barrels for flexibility. 12.5 barrel for work/hiking in grizzly country and the 20'' barrel for any time i dont have to carry it :D

I am not trying to downplay anyone elses ideas, but just wanted to clarify my setup as an option...

i personally dont consider this an option at all.
i had similar results as Can-Down with 12.5" Grizzly barrels mounted on Wingmaster and Police receivers - they were out of index. yours looks a touch out of index as well.
the fact that these barrels index perfectly fine on all Grizzlies indicates that they are just indexed slightly different by design - not by chance. i dont consider a shotgun with a barrel twisted to the side - even slightly - as an option.

I haven't actually tried my 12.5 but I tried a few 14" clone barrels on several older 870 wingmaster and magnum receivers and they all looked like this..

as for 'mounted on an actual Remington receiver' -- you say that as if its universally a good thing.
i would much rather have a Grizzly receiver than a recent production Express receiver.

LOL ok well you are CLEARLY set in your ways and there is no issue with that. However as I stated in my post, even if the photo suggests it is, the barrel IS indexed squarely with the receiver, standing a round topped receiver perfectly on the table posed a slight challenge. Again I will not contest this further but feel it is important that ALL options be considered and made known, whether YOU consider them AN OPTION or not...

calm yourself :D
if my barrel did not index properly, even if yours did, then thats a 50-50 chance that it wont index properly on a Remington receiver. would be nice if more people chimed in with how their Grizzly barrels index on Remington receivers to give us a better cross-section.

and like i said - an Express is not an upgrade over a Grizzly.
i love my 870P with Dlask barrel that i posted earlier, but you can buy three complete Grizzlies for the price.

I will try my 18.5" Grizzly on my Wingmaster and post the results.

It sure couldn't be any worse than the Dlask I got. Tried that in my Rem receiver and it was spectacularly out of index. The extractor cut out was its full width away from where it needed to be. That is a full 3/16" of rotation. The sight was canted 10 degrees off.

I was not impressed for the money spent. My chamber looks worlds better than manbearpigs does though. I thought about returning it but just modified it to work instead. Good thing I have a TIG welder. Opened up the slot by the frame rail to allow it to index and then filled in the dead space with a quick hit from the welder. Works great now. However my S&J rail no longer clamps due to the thickness of the Dlask. One problem down, one to go...

To the OP: Buy the Grizzly. Keep the Rem. You are out no more cash than the Dlask and you get two guns in the process. I cannot recommend the Dlask unless you take your receiver into them. I wish I had. Would have saved me 'fixing' the barrel to work on my Rem...

EDIT: The battery for my camera isn't holding a charge so no pics. Anyhow, I tried the Grizz barrel on my Rem receiver and it is out of index. Not as bad as the Dlask mind you, but still unacceptable. I should have tried the Dlask on my Grizzly before I modified it, as it seems that it might have come close to indexing as it was. Perhaps my Rem is just hooped as it works with neither in their stock form. All I know is the old Rem barrel I had was perfectly indexed. Too bad the man made me take it off...
