Got my it in 300wm, composite stalker, mounted the Browning rings on it. The gun is nice I especially like the detachable mag with no hinged floorplate and the 26 inch barrel. Now to decide on a scope.
What's the problem with the A-bolt? I have an A-bolt in 7mm mag and a BAR in 7mm mag both with the "dreaded" floor plate detachable mag and never had a problem.
I just acquired a Browning X-Bolt in 280. Bought some Federal Premium 140 grn TSX bullets, rifle bore-sighted at the shop. Normally I load but little time right now in hunting season. Fired two shots into a tight group at 100m (not a group really but enough to indicate a rough MPI) to make adjustment to my zero, then fired 3 more shots into MOA! Could have shot them better too because I wasn't trying really, rushed it and wanted to get done before it got too dark after work. Made another adjustment and the next two shots almost touched each other. I stopped there... 7 shots to zero at 2" high at 100 ... why shoot any more bullets? (I'm sure someone out there will tell me I shoulda!) Anyway, I recently saw another target sheet from an X-Bolt, a 270 that shot 5/8" out of the box once zeroed. I think this gun is sweet and at $730 it's a great deal.
