It's finally put together and then sighted in.... Here she is, ready for the coming winter season hunting 'yotes... It's my Rem M700 SPS Tac in a .22-250 (many of you know that the SPS Tac comes only in .308 and .223). I just had to have this rifle in .22-250 for a little more zip. The varmints deserve them booolits nice and fast.
This is a Remmy M700 SA RH that is sporting a .22-250 1 in 9" twist barrel. What I did was buy a .223 SPS Tac and kept the .223 barrel while selling off the .223 boltface action and Hogue stock. That barrel was rechambered by Doug at Ellwood Epps into a .22-250, then I had Sean at North Shore Barrels setup that chamber with a Brownells Stainless enhanced recoil lug (bit fatter than factory).
I bought a HS Precision LTR stock from the EE Forum and yes that desert color is from the factory.
This barrel loves the 50 gr Vmax boolits as well as the 68 gr Hornady HPBT's for longer ranges, very stable very accurate, always dancing around 3/4" and sometimes over an inch because my bench technique sucks.
I just gotta shoot prone, that's all.
On top for glass, I'm a Leupold Mark 4 lover, they work and if I fall down (quite often) in the field, I know the internals can handle the bumps. Well it's an LR/T 4.5 x 14 x 40mm duplex with 30mm tube.
Here's the other side:
That cheek piece is an Eagle Industries baby, and they are out of business these days, I'm told. I bought a bunch of them years ago because I love their quality and the texture! Very smooth!
The bolt knob is from Allen Gun Works and Mike over there did the install. He sold me a "seconds" version of their tactical bolt knob, but I cannot see how and / or why the quality was substandard and discounted by $ 10 but I ain't complaining. Mike passed on the savings to us!
So... share you 'yote gitter rifles while it's winter 2012 soon!
Cheers,
Barney
